Prosecution and temporary detention of former judge for drug possession

On January 29, the Investigation Police Agency of Pleiku City Police (Gia Lai Province) issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung (39 years old, residing in Phu Dong Ward, Pleiku City) to investigate the act of "Illegal possession of narcotics".

Previously, on the evening of January 11, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Gia Lai Province Police caught Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung in possession of more than 1 gram of white crystals at a hotel in Tra Da Commune, Pleiku City. Mr. Dung confessed that it was drugs.

Immediately afterwards, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department handed over the case file and the subject Nguyen Thanh Dung to Pleiku City Police to continue investigating under their authority the act of "Illegal possession of narcotics".

It is known that Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung used to be a judge of the People's Court of Chu Prong District (Gia Lai Province). However, on January 8, Mr. Dung submitted a resignation letter. On January 9, the People's Court of Gia Lai Province decided to allow Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung to resign.
