Mrs. Tran Thi Chau in hamlet 10, Quynh Lam commune is participating in irrigation work in the fields and said: “My family grows 5 sao of rice fields, to facilitate irrigation, farmers in the hamlet have actively mobilized all forces to respond to the irrigation work. Specifically, we focus on dredging canals, repairing banks and fields, ensuring water supply for the spring rice crop.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung - Chairman of Quynh Lam Commune People's Committee said: Quynh Lam Commune has over 561 hectares of rice, after each rainy season, the irrigation canals quickly become silted and limit the flow, directly affecting the drainage and water supply for people's production. Therefore, the work of internal irrigation is one of the projects and tasks that the commune prioritizes to implement every year, in order to ensure the water source for the upcoming spring rice crop.

Immediately after the launching ceremony of irrigation work on September 10, the commune mobilized over 4,000 people to participate in irrigation work within the fields. Up to this point, the whole commune has dredged over 8.7 km of canals, including two main canals, D7 and Bau Dinh, cleared bush banks, treated water hyacinth over 10,000 m2, dug and repaired 670 m3 of mud and soil from the banks, used excavators to repair and reset dozens of damaged water intakes. The commune is currently continuing to dredge the remaining canals, build new embankments, upgrade the banks to ensure adequate drainage and supply of irrigation water for production.
A representative of the Department of Agriculture of Quynh Luu district said: According to the plan, Quynh Luu district launched a campaign for the entire population to do irrigation and environmental sanitation from September 10 to October 31, 2023, focusing on dredging and clearing drainage canals and drainage systems of the Thai River, Mo River, Binh Son Canal, Nguyen Van Troi Canal, T7 Canal, Nam Ha Canal... At the same time, it is associated with cleaning up, overcoming natural disasters, and repairing damaged works after floods to serve production and people's lives.

To effectively implement the plan, the district mobilized the entire population, along with cadres and employees of 33 communes and towns, Trinh Mon Aquaculture Joint Stock Company, Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise, District Military Command, District Police, Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station... Arranged support forces for communes and towns so that units could ensure the criteria on traffic, irrigation and environment as required.
Up to this point, the whole district has mobilized more than 30,000 people to participate, mobilized dozens of excavators, carried out dredging, excavated soil, 11,100 m3, cleared and cleaned canals over 15,000 m3, built embankments in the area, embankments of 2,550 m3. The estimated value of implementation is 10.6/20.6 billion VND.
In Do Luong district, from October 15, all 33/33 communes and towns simultaneously launched traffic and irrigation projects. In Van Son commune, nearly 1,000 workers were mobilized, along with equipment and machinery, to repair the banks of the fields and dredge canals in some canals in the commune.
Van Son commune has completed dredging the canal clamping line of more than 2 km, the N1 canal to Hoi Tam area of 2.5 km, with a total excavation volume of over 8,350 m3 of mud. Currently, the commune is continuing to dump gravel on the 3 km long intra-field road and repair the sewer and ditch system. In Thinh Son commune, over 1,140 workers have been mobilized, the commune has allocated the budget to rent excavators and dredge key canals such as the 1.3 km long Van Phuc canal, the medical station canal to Tan Son commune and more than 10 intra-field canals, with a total excavation volume of over 7,500 m3 of mud.

The main objective of this year's irrigation campaign is for Do Luong to overcome the consequences of damaged irrigation works after the flood; Focus on dredging canals, clearing sewers, channels leading to the suction tanks of pumping stations, irrigation systems in the area; Maintain and upgrade machinery and equipment of pumping stations, repair lakes, dams, and store water to ensure capacity; Organize the salvage of water hyacinth on the Rao Gang drainage system, promote the solidification of canals, build embankments in areas and plots. Repair and reinforce eroded sections of dikes and dams...
Do Luong district assigns targets to communes, at the same time, guides communes and towns to develop plans to organize and implement the campaign to build irrigation works well. Regularly inspect, monitor, urge, promptly summarize and report results to the district People's Committee, provincial departments, branches and sectors, promptly commend and reward units and individuals who do well.
The irrigation campaign of Do Luong district started from October 15 to December 31. Up to now, 28,326 people have been mobilized to participate in irrigation work. They have dug and dredged 26,419 m3 of canals, built 3,523 m3 of intra-field roads, poured 4,763 m3 of intra-field roads, and cleared and collected weeds and algae.

In this year's launch, Nghe An will focus on implementing the following tasks well: Organizing inspections to repair damage to key works, works and irrigation systems after storms. Focusing on dredging and repairing drainage ditches, drainage axes of communes, wards, blocks, and residential groups to drain water, prevent flooding and maintain environmental sanitation. On the other hand, organizing internal irrigation, repairing and dredging irrigation canal systems, building embankments in the field banks, and combining with repairing field traffic. Continuing to implement the program of solidifying canals, especially internal canals.

Dredging water intakes, canal systems, speeding up construction progress of irrigation works, domestic water supply. Strictly managing water resources, guiding people to use water economically and effectively, preventing leakage, loss and wasteful use of water, implementing appropriate measures to prevent saltwater from entering the fields.
The Provincial People's Committee noted that during the launching period, localities should mobilize and encourage people of all walks of life to actively participate in public service, pay attention to practical effectiveness and organize savings, avoid formalism, waste and expense. At the end of the launching period, there will be a summary, evaluation and report on the implementation results to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for synthesis and reporting to the Provincial People's Committee.
According to the report of the Irrigation Department, up to this point, the whole province has mobilized over 210,944 working days for irrigation. Dredging and internal drainage canals of nearly 60,000 m3, dredging and filling over 85,000 m3 of excavated soil, filling and pouring concrete over 40,000 m3, the total estimated cost of implementation is over 40 billion VND.
