Khe Coc builds smart new countryside

Coming to Khe Coc hamlet, Tuc Tranh commune (Phu Luong), we were impressed by the peaceful, spacious, clean countryside scenery and the level of "digitalization" application of the people. Fiber optic Internet infrastructure and 4G/5G mobile information have covered 100% of households in the hamlet; the cultural house is installed with free wifi to serve people's study and information search; 58% of production and business households are able to promote, introduce, and buy and sell products on e-commerce platforms...

Khe Coc Hamlet currently has 142 households, with more than 500 people. People in the hamlet mainly produce tea, with a total area of ​​about 78 hectares. From 2022, Khe Coc was selected by the People's Committee of Tuc Tranh commune to build a smart new rural hamlet.

Accordingly, the hamlet focuses on propaganda through meetings to help people better understand their role as the main subject in building smart new rural areas; arouse the positivity, proactiveness and creativity of the people. Through that, people actively contribute and enthusiastically participate in building new rural areas.

Specifically, from 2019 to present, Khe Coc hamlet has mobilized thousands of working days, mobilizing people to donate 5,300m2 of land to build and expand roads. Currently, the hamlet's main traffic route has been installed with 100 solar-powered lighting bulbs. With the support of the commune, the hamlet has mobilized socialized resources to install a free high-speed wifi system at the cultural house, install 9 security surveillance cameras in public areas, on the main road...

In addition, Khe Coc established a village and association information page on the Zalo social network platform, helping people quickly access new policies and guidelines accurately and conveniently. The village also focuses on guiding and encouraging people to access digital technology platforms, develop smart agricultural models; do business, promote and consume products on e-commerce platforms.

To date, 79% of people of working age in Khe Coc using smartphones have been instructed, trained, and educated on the skills to install and use software and digital platforms such as: C-ThaiNguyen, Thai Nguyen ID, VssID, Electronic Health Handbook... to support searching, looking up, and exchanging information. In addition, 81% of people of working age have online payment accounts, which can pay for essential services such as electricity, water, telecommunications services, tuition fees...

Digital transformation and application of technology in production and business are also the contents that many households in Khe Coc hamlet are implementing. Mr. To Van Khiem, Head of the hamlet and Director of Khe Coc Safe Tea Cooperative, shared: In recent years, we have mobilized people to produce safe tea according to organic standards and currently have 20 hectares of tea certified to meet organic standards, bringing in value twice as high as that of conventional tea production. The products of the Cooperative have been registered for trademarks, brands and OCOP certification, and are put on e-commerce platforms to introduce, promote and connect with customers. In 2022, we exported 10 tons of tea to the Czech Republic.

Thanks to the construction of the smart new-style rural area, the face of Khe Coc countryside has changed a lot. The economic and social infrastructure has been invested in more and more synchronously and completed in a modern direction. The material and spiritual life of the people has been improved, the average income per capita has increased from 35 million VND/person (2015) to 70 million VND/person (currently). The hamlet currently has no poor households.

According to Mr. Hoang Ngoc Doanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuc Tranh Commune: With the efforts and consensus of the people, up to now, Khe Coc hamlet has achieved encouraging results in building a smart new rural area. In particular, although life has been "digitalized", the people in the hamlet always live in solidarity and harmony, security and order are maintained, there are no social evils, and for many consecutive years the hamlet has achieved the title of Cultural Residential Area.
