(Fatherland) - On the evening of November 9, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024 opened at August Revolution Square, Hanoi Opera House area.
The 2024 Hanoi Creative Design Festival with the theme "Creative Intersection" will take place from November 9 to 17, on Ly Thai To - Le Thanh Tong streets intersecting with Bac Co - Trang Tien slope (Hoan Kiem district).
Attending the opening ceremony were: Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu; Permanent member of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Education Bui Hoai Son; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong. Delegates from Hanoi City attending included: Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Pham Qui Tien; Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha; Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Nguyen Sy Truong; Chairman of the Vietnam Architects Association Phan Dang Son along with scientists, creators and all the people and tourists.
Regarding international delegates, there were Ms. Pauline Tamasis - Head of the United Nations Delegation in Vietnam; Mr. Jonathan Baker - Head of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam, ambassadors and international organizations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha said that Hanoi has just organized activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the 25th anniversary of the City being recognized by UNESCO as a "City for Peace", and 5 years as a "Creative City". The city has organized commemorative activities to review the heroic historical traditions of the Vietnamese people and of the army and people of Hanoi, to promote the will and determination to promote all resources, to build a "Cultured - Civilized - Modern" Capital; a globally connected city.
Assessing Hanoi’s efforts in building the “Creative City” brand, Chief Representative of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam Jonathan Wallace Baker said that over the years, Hanoi has played an important role in the cooperation between Vietnam and UNESCO. Five years ago, Hanoi joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a testament to Hanoi’s capacity and creativity.
"This year's festival is an opportunity to bring the outstanding architectural works associated with Hanoi's history closer to the lives of the people. Accordingly, the Government Guest House will open its doors to visitors for the first time and tours will also be held at the Hanoi Opera House, the Children's Palace and the National Museum of History. I encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to explore Hanoi's gems in all their splendor," said Mr. Jonathan Baker.

Following the ceremony, three art performances were performed by a group of young artists, as a tribute to young talents and unique creative ideas that are shaping the face of modern art and design.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the parade began with the participation of Hanoi leaders, art units and a large number of people.
The 2024 Hanoi Creative Design Festival with the theme "Creative Intersection" will take place from November 9 to 17, on Ly Thai To - Le Thanh Tong streets intersecting with Bac Co - Trang Tien slope (Hoan Kiem district).
The Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024 is also a place for more than 500 units, creators, architects, artisans, especially many young artists in the design fields to sublimate their emotions, express creative ideas through innovative thinking and actions that bring direct benefits to the community.
People and tourists can experience creative spaces from August Revolution Square connecting Ly Thai To - Le Thanh Tong street axis; Bac Co slope - Trang Tien street axis including outstanding architectural works such as Children's Palace, National History Museum, University of Natural Sciences and cultural spaces of Hoan Kiem Lake, Ly Thai To monument flower garden, Dien Hong, Co Tan, 19/8, Tao Dan.
In addition, the festival has 3 symbolic works (Pavilion) "Innocent Corridor" at Hanoi Children's Palace, "Stream" at Dien Hong Flower Garden and Bac Bo Palace, "Dragon and Snake Up in the Clouds" at the National History Museum. The symbolic works are arranged in positions that interact with the heritage. Through this, the creators want to continue writing the creative story connecting with the past, in order to create a unity between tradition and modernity.
