The 2023 Women's World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20. This is the first expanded Women's World Cup with 32 teams. FIFA divides the teams into eight groups of four teams each. The top two teams in each group will advance to the round of 16.

The total prize money at the 2023 World Cup is $110 million, $80 million more than the 2019 World Cup. The winning team will receive $4.29 million.

Vietnam Women's Team 0-7 Netherlands

The Vietnamese women's team is in Group E with the US, Portugal and the Netherlands. This is a difficult group as the US and the Netherlands are the reigning world champions and runners-up. The goal of the Vietnamese women's team is to score a goal in their first participation in the tournament.

The Vietnamese women's team was eliminated after three group stage matches. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team lost 0-3 to the US, 0-2 to Portugal and 0-7 to the Netherlands. These were predictable defeats. Although the Vietnamese women's team tried their best, their determination was not enough to overcome the huge gap in skill level compared to the world's top teams.

The United States team is the reigning Women's World Cup champion.

Another representative of Southeast Asian football participating in the 2023 World Cup is the Philippines. In their first World Cup appearance, coach Stajcic and his team made a splash when they defeated host New Zealand in the second match. However, they were still eliminated after losing to Norway in the final match.

The knockout matches will take place from August 5 to 8. Teams will play for 90 minutes. If the score is tied, the match will go into two 15-minute extra periods. If the two teams are still tied, they will have to decide in a penalty shootout.
