"Vietnam-India Business Connectivity: Business Cooperation"

Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi - Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City delivered a welcome speech and opened the conference.

On May 23, the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City organized a “Vietnam - India Business Connection Meeting: Business Cooperation” at Sheraton Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the visit and working session of 17 member companies of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi from various fields such as information technology, infrastructure, electrical equipment, agricultural and aquatic product processing, technology services, renewable energy... to Ho Chi Minh City from May 22-24.

The networking event was organized in a combination of in-person and online formats to create an opportunity for Indian businesses to interact, exchange, learn and study about the Vietnamese market in many different fields and industries. More than 150 Vietnamese businesses attended the event to connect and exchange with businesses from India.

Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City attended the event and shared: “India is currently the 7th largest trading partner of Vietnam, with key areas including agriculture, aquaculture, pharmaceuticals... The number of Indian tourists to Vietnam in 2022 is more than 110,000 people”. He also shared his wish to be a bridge for more cooperation between Vietnam and India in many fields, not only trade but also investment, health, tourism...

The event welcomed the presence of Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem Quynh and Ms. Doan Thi Ngoc Van, Deputy Directors of the Department of Planning and Investment of Long An and Dong Nai provinces. They gave an overview and introduction of the provinces and business and investment opportunities in the two provinces.

Mr. Ranjeet Mehta, Deputy Secretary General, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry mentioned the delegation's goal of cooperating with Vietnamese enterprises in fields such as agriculture, textiles, education, fisheries, food processing, railway infrastructure, and healthcare.

Ms. Shwetima Negi, Representative of Invest India Investment Promotion Center, also attended the online meeting to discuss the Indian market and opportunities in key areas such as information technology, agricultural and aquatic product production and processing, logistics, infrastructure, etc. that are calling for foreign investment.

Mr. Dinh Vinh Cuong, Chairman of Vietnam International Entrepreneurs Network Club (VIENC) attended the meeting to share about the Vietnamese market and Vietnam's advantages to attract FDI including stable GDP growth, infrastructure development, strategic location...

The speech session was followed by a B2B business matching session between Indian businesses and more than 100 Vietnamese businesses in the above fields.

In the afternoon of the same day, the PHD Chamber of Commerce delegation visited VSIP 1 and IOC (Intelligent Control Center) in Binh Duong province, then attended the "Indian Market Investment and Trade Promotion Conference 2023" hosted by the Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Duong province. More than 30 enterprises in Binh Duong province attended to meet and exchange with the PHD business delegation.

India is a strategic trade partner of Vietnam and the two sides still have a lot of potential to exploit. According to Vietnam's statistics, India is currently Vietnam's 8th largest trade partner with bilateral trade turnover in 2022 reaching 15.05 billion USD, up 13.6% over the same period last year.

According to Vietnam statistics, Ho Chi Minh City has 206 Indian projects with a total investment of more than 98 million USD, ranking India 25th out of 117 countries and territories.
