Tax industry recovers 22,352 billion VND in tax debt

The tax sector proactively and resolutely performs the task of collecting budget revenue and promoting digital transformation.

Also according to the Tax Department, the total state budget revenue of this industry in the first 3 months of 2025 reached 668,313 billion VND, equal to 38.9% of the estimate and 136.3% over the same period.

40/63 localities have revenue reaching over 30% of the estimate; 8/63 localities have revenue below 26% of the estimate. 56/63 localities have revenue growth compared to the same period in 2024; 7/63 localities have lower revenue than the same period in 2024 (Bac Kan, Quang Ngai, An Giang, Tra Vinh, Ha Giang, Long An, Thanh Hoa).

Regarding tax registration, statistics show that as of March 31, 2025, there were 958,162 enterprises operating nationwide, an increase of 0.84% ​​compared to the end of 2024.

Particularly in the work of value-added tax refund, in the first 3 months of 2025, the whole industry issued 3,911 tax refund decisions with a total refund amount of 31,128 billion VND, an increase of 6% over the same period in 2024.

According to the Tax Department, from the implementation of the automatic personal income tax refund application (April 4, 2025) to April 16, 2025, 98,721 records have been identified by the system for refund with an amount of VND 489.28 billion.

Also in the first 3 months of 2025, the tax authority conducted 10,382 inspections and examinations, reaching 15.5% of the plan, equal to 151.6% of the same period. The amount of proposed handling was 16,930 billion VND, equal to 281.3% of the same period, of which the increased revenue was 4,366 billion VND; the deduction was reduced by 650 billion VND; the loss was reduced by 11,914 billion VND, the amount paid to the state budget was 2,162 billion VND.

The electronic invoice system continues to operate stably, receiving and processing more than 13 billion invoices (of which more than 3 billion are coded invoices; 8.3 billion are codeless; 1.94 billion are from cash registers). Notably, by March 31, 2025, 100% of gas stations nationwide (16,165 stores) have connected to automatically issue electronic invoices in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction.

eTax Mobile application reached over 3.8 million downloads and installations, with over 6.2 million transactions, the total amount paid reached over 12,400 billion VND.
