Continuing the working program, at noon on August 22 (local time), the Ho Chi Minh City delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, had a working session with the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Comrade Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Hungary joined the delegation.
Receiving and working with the delegation, Mr. Miklós Lengyel, Deputy Secretary of State of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the Hungarian Government has attached special importance to the relationship with Vietnam over the past nearly 75 years.
According to Mr. Miklós Lengyel, the good relationship between the two countries is marked by regular high-level visits and contacts, most recently the visit to Hungary by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (in January 2024).
Trade cooperation between the two countries has flourished, especially since the signing of the Vietnam-European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). Vietnam is the leading ASEAN country exporting to Hungary. Diplomatic relations between the two countries have also achieved many commendable results in recent times.
At the meeting, the delegation of Ho Chi Minh City hoped to welcome many delegations of high-ranking leaders, intellectuals and businesses of Hungary to visit and work in Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, towards the 75th anniversary of Vietnam - Hungary diplomatic relations, Ho Chi Minh City will closely cooperate with the Embassy and Consulate General of Hungary to organize events to mark this milestone.
Emphasizing the areas of strength that can be specifically cooperated at the working session, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai wished to further promote trade and investment cooperation with Hungary, such as electronics industry, food industry, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure development, especially high-tech agricultural development.
Ho Chi Minh City hopes that the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will create conditions for businesses from both sides to regularly research the market and have direct contact with local partners. Ho Chi Minh City businesses also want to promote their products in Hungary and learn from Hungary's experience in improving product quality to meet the high standards of the EU market.

For more information, comrade Nguyen Ho Hai said that Ho Chi Minh City is one of the localities most heavily affected by climate change. With the common goal of sustainable development and promoting a circular economy, Ho Chi Minh City hopes that Hungary will increase support in terms of resources, finance, institution building and human resource training in the fields of climate change adaptation, renewable energy production, clean water supply, waste treatment, etc.
Mr. Miklós Lengyel, Deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, affirmed that Vietnam is Hungary's most important partner in the ASEAN region. Hungary also always prioritizes promoting cooperation, especially between Budapest and Ho Chi Minh City in all fields.
Mr. Miklós Lengyel affirmed that he will act as a bridge for the two sides to achieve the expected cooperation goals.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides pledged to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding, so that businesses from both sides could connect and cooperate in long-term and effective business, as well as coordinate well to promote the good friendship between localities of the two countries in particular and the Vietnam - Hungary Comprehensive Partnership in general.
