In recent times, trade promotion activities and supply-demand connection have been actively and effectively implemented by Quang Tri province. Through these activities, opportunities have been created to encourage businesses, cooperatives, and production establishments in the province to improve product quality, expand consumption markets, and sign many valuable orders with partners in and outside the region.

Bustling trade promotion activities

Implementing the National Program on Trade Promotion in 2024, in June 2024, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize the Trade and Tourism Fair - Trans-Asia Bridge - Quang Tri in 2024; The Trade Connection Program (B2B) between suppliers in the North Central region of Vietnam with import-export enterprises and trade promotion organizations.

According to Deputy Director of the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center Tran Phi Tuong, this is one of the important trade promotion activities of Quang Tri province and the North Central region in 2024. Thereby, orienting the development of the domestic and export markets, is an opportunity to strengthen cooperation, promote economic development, improve competitiveness, expand marketing markets, and promote the brands of import and export products of Quang Tri province.

This is also an opportunity for localities nationwide, provinces and cities on the East-West Economic Corridor and the Greater Mekong Sub-region to introduce their political, economic, cultural and social achievements; potential, advantages, and preferential policies to attract domestic and foreign investors.

The 2024 Trans-Asia Bridge Trade and Tourism Fair - Quang Tri has 392 booths of 214 units and enterprises from many provinces and cities in the country. This fair also has the participation of enterprises from Khon Kaen and Nakhon Nayok provinces (Thailand); Savannakhet, Champasak, Salavan, Sekong (Laos).

During the 7 days of the fair, over 35,000 people came here to visit and shop. The total transaction value is estimated at over 20 billion VND. There were over 70 memorandums of understanding and economic contracts on cooperation, becoming distributors and agents signed between businesses.

In addition, at the B2B program, 53 memorandums of understanding were signed between businesses. The success of the program is a bridge for manufacturing businesses and distributors, supermarket representatives to meet, exchange information, learn about needs, supply methods, and find partners in production and business activities.

In September 2024, the program to support the connection of typical products, OCOP, and typical rural industries of Quang Tri province into the supermarket system and agricultural product stores in the area in 2024 was organized by the Department of Industry and Trade in coordination with Co.opmart Dong Ha supermarket.

Here, enterprises and cooperatives displayed and introduced products certified with 3-star and 4-star OCOP at the provincial level, typical rural industrial products, and agreed with partners and signed 40 memorandums of understanding and 1 product consumption cooperation contract between manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and consumers.

At the program, representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development informed and suggested many key issues for enterprises and cooperatives to discuss and share experiences; propose effective solutions to promote potential, product value, trade promotion associated with the goal of sustainable development of typical products, OCOP, typical rural industry of the province. Thereby establishing a sustainable relationship between the distribution system, retail establishments and production and processing enterprises in the province.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Huu Hung, in recent years, from capital sources for trade promotion, industrial promotion and other budget sources, the department and agencies and units have increased support for enterprises and cooperatives in investing in technological innovation, finding markets, building brands for products... Forming supply chains, connecting with distributors and consumers to ensure output for local products.

“The above program is an annual activity of the Department of Industry and Trade since 2021, aiming to create conditions for businesses and cooperatives in the province to display and introduce products, meet, exchange directly and sign memorandums of understanding on cooperation and economic contracts on the supply and consumption of their products with distributors,” Mr. Hung informed.

These are just two of many trade promotion activities, connecting supply and demand organized by departments, branches and units in recent times. Through trade promotion activities, regional linkage, connecting supply and demand between Quang Tri province and other provinces and cities in the region as well as across the country, it has contributed to promoting trade of products and goods of the province.

Enterprises, production facilities, and cooperatives are increasingly aware of the importance of trade promotion activities. From there, they are bold and proactive in participating in trade activities, connecting supply and demand, fairs, and exhibitions to promote, seek partners, and expand markets. Many products with strengths and specialties of the province are known to consumers and are present in major markets as well as supermarkets in and outside the province.

Support businesses to "reach out to the ocean"

Implementing the province's trade promotion program, every year, the Department of Industry and Trade and the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, together with related units, have proactively developed plans and effectively implemented them. In addition to trade promotion activities and supply-demand connection organized in the province, in 2024, the above two units organized many business delegations of Quang Tri province to participate in trade promotion programs, fairs, and training on digital technology application...

Highlights include the Exhibition Program of Ho Chi Minh City and friendly provinces and cities in Savannakhet province (Laos) from April 2 to 7, 2024; fairs: International Trade, Tourism and Investment of the East-West Economic Corridor - Da Nang; Promotion of agricultural trade, OCOP products in Hanoi; Regional specialties of Vietnam in Hanoi; Quintessence of craft villages in Ho Chi Minh City...

On the other hand, from the capital for industrial promotion and trade promotion, the Department of Industry and Trade has increased support for businesses in investing in technological innovation, advanced equipment for production, training skilled workers, finding markets, building product brands...

The Department of Industry and Trade always grasps information, market orientation and national trade promotion programs of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to connect businesses in the province to participate. The Department has introduced and implemented trade promotion activities with provinces, cities and commercial centers, supermarkets, large distributors, and OCOP points of sale in many localities across the country.

As a result, many businesses have signed contracts, joint ventures, and expanded their consumption markets with distributors. In addition to the province's trade promotion program, fulfilling its commitment to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, in 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade has supported businesses and units in the province to participate in 4 major domestic e-commerce platforms: Shopee, Lazada, Voso, and Tiki.

Actively develop and implement projects to support small and medium enterprises to participate in large trading floors; support training, provide skills and tools for enterprises to effectively manage content, promote and market on websites.

During the year, the unit organized an e-commerce supply chain for agricultural products, building links between businesses to optimize costs and time to bring goods to market.

According to many businesses, trade promotion activities have helped businesses find stable sources of raw materials for production and diversify export markets. This activity also helps businesses learn about, approach, and connect with new markets and partners, take advantage of free trade agreements (FTAs), strengthen international market connections, and participate deeply in global value chains.

In particular, a number of promotion programs of the Department of Industry and Trade and the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center and related units have created brands, spread and connected localities.

In addition to supporting local businesses, the program also supports businesses in provinces and cities across the country to promote products, improve competitiveness, connect with partners, and expand domestic and export markets.

In order for enterprises, cooperatives, and production establishments to firmly “reach out to the sea”, in the coming time, Quang Tri province will effectively exploit traditional trade promotion methods. Innovate and diversify trade promotion methods, connect supply and demand through promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation in this activity.

In addition, the province continues to focus on propaganda to raise awareness of the role of trade promotion activities in the effectiveness of production and business processes, creating proactive and positive participation of enterprises and cooperatives in the province.
