The Israeli military said it struck Hezbollah vehicles allegedly transporting weapons in the Nabatieh fringe area.
Following the airstrikes on Nabatieh, Mohammad Raad, a senior Hezbollah official, declared that "the right to resist Israeli attacks is sacred and legitimate".
He stressed that Hezbollah can exercise this right at any time and place it deems necessary to protect Lebanon's national security.
Hezbollah and Israel reached a ceasefire agreement in late November 2024, after the conflict between the two sides escalated since the 2023 Gaza war, which left thousands dead.
The US announced on Sunday that the deal between Lebanon and Israel, which includes an initial 60-day Israeli withdrawal period, will be extended to February 18, instead of January 26 as originally planned.
Meanwhile, Lebanon's interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called on US General Jasper Jeffers, head of the ceasefire monitoring committee, to pressure Israel to comply with the agreement under international law.
Despite the ceasefire, violence continues in southern Lebanon. In just two days, January 27 and 28, the Israeli army killed at least 24 people and wounded 141, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
