Intel is about to impress with new graphics cards
This information comes from a user on the social network X (formerly Twitter) named Tomasz Gawronski, when he discovered some shipping documents mentioning the Battlemage G21 graphics card with the term 'clamshell'.
Clamshell is a method that allows for doubling the VRAM by adding GDDR6 memory modules to the graphics card. This means that Intel can upgrade the Arc B580 from 12GB to 24GB of VRAM without changing the motherboard design.
With a huge amount of VRAM, the Arc B580 24 GB will deliver outstanding performance in its price range, surpassing competitors from NVIDIA and AMD. However, it is unclear whether Intel will launch this version for the mass market or only for data centers and AI (artificial intelligence) companies.
If launched, the Arc B580 24 GB will certainly become Intel's 'trump card' in the battle for graphics card market share, especially in the mainstream segment.
