Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Indonesian Islamic Finance Center at the Danareksa Building in Jakarta on September 17, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized: "We know that Indonesia has 236 million Muslims, this is a huge market", "a huge potential that we need to take full advantage of so that other countries do not take it away".
According to him, Indonesia holds a strategic opportunity to become the center of the Halal business ecosystem in the world.

To achieve this goal, the Indonesian head of state stressed the importance of measures to strengthen the domestic Islamic economic ecosystem and train more professionals in the industry.
He assessed the presence of the Indonesian Islamic Finance Center as a positive move to support the development of the country's Halal industry, including the fields of fashion, tourism and cuisine.
Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim-majority country, with about 87% of its more than 270 million people following Islam. The government has recently made efforts to further develop the local Halal industry to tap the potential of the domestic market.
The archipelago nation ranked third in the Global Islamic Economic Index 2023, after Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
