Yemen's Houthi forces said they launched multiple attacks on an oil tanker and cargo ships, including one carried out jointly with the Islamic Resistance group in Iraq.
Speaking on al-Masirah television, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had carried out a large-scale military operation using drones against the Waler oil tanker, which was en route to Haifa port.
In addition, the Houthis also attacked the US ship Delonix in the Red Sea with a ballistic missile, hit the ship Johannes Maersk in the Mediterranean with a cruise missile, and attacked the ship Ioannis in the Red Sea with a drone.
Since November last year, the Houthis have carried out numerous drone and missile attacks on ships traveling along the vital Red Sea shipping lane, to pressure Israel in its conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
In response to the Houthi move, a naval coalition led by the US and UK was established to conduct airstrikes and attacks on Houthi targets from January 2024.
