More than 8,000 students benefit from the Safe and Quality School for Children project in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City.


Today, November 27, in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City, the closing ceremony of the project "Building safe and quality schools for children in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City" took place.

The project "Building safe and quality schools for children in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City" is sponsored by the Taiwan Children and Family Foundation (TFCF); implemented by ActionAid International in Vietnam (ActionAid) and the Vietnam Social Security Program and Project Support Fund (AFV) in cooperation with the People's Committee of Binh Tan District.

The above project is organized at 3 primary schools in Binh Tan district: Tan Tao A Primary School; Kim Dong Primary School and Binh Tri Dong Primary School.

The organizers said that after more than 3 years, from March 2021 to November 2024, with a budget equivalent to more than 10.5 billion VND, this project has donated and installed 234 computers; 3 solar water filtration systems; set up 3 psychological counseling rooms for students; supported more than 3,300 reference books for green libraries in schools participating in the program.

The project supports 120 swimming lessons for students; equips bookshelves, bookcases, and sunshades to build a new outdoor green library; 2 net systems to cover the school yard, 45 sets of tables and chairs, and repairs toilets.

Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Dung, Vice Chairman of Binh Tan District People's Committee, spoke at the ceremony.

In addition to material support, the project also organizes many training courses and communication programs on children's rights for teachers, students and parents. Notably, the project has researched the need for school psychological counseling, supported students and teachers of participating schools to establish and build psychological counseling corners for students. These activities contribute to building schools in Binh Tan district into safe and happy schools.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Dung, Vice Chairman of Binh Tan District People's Committee, said: "The project has contributed to improving the quality of education for children in Binh Tan District in a substantial way, with activities supporting both hardware and software. Binh Tan District has more than 800,000 people, many of whom are immigrants, and the locality always has an urgent need to build schools. The project has supported more than 8,000 students to benefit because it has contributed to supporting schools in the area participating in the project to become safe and happy schools."

"We acknowledge the project's contribution to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 on ensuring inclusive, equitable and quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, which the United Nations has initiated and Vietnam has actively participated in," said Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Dung.
