Binh Thuan Provincial Museum has just issued a plan to organize a painting contest with the theme "Preserving local cultural heritage" in 2024.
The contest is widely deployed to primary and secondary school students across the province, including individual paintings (1 student) or collective paintings (many students). The paintings are about topics such as historical and cultural relics, architectural art, revolutionary history and scenic spots; rituals, religious beliefs, festivals, customs, traditional houses... of ethnic groups living in the province.
Students choose their own materials (paper, fabric, wood, stone, sand, beans, rice, shells, etc.) and color tools (crayons, wax, water-based powder, oil paint, colored sand, etc.) to create their works. The size of the paintings is A3 (297 x 420 mm). Each student can submit multiple paintings. In addition to the works on A3 size, the Organizing Committee also requests that each participating school submit 1 work on A1 size drawn by the students.
All works were created in 2024 and have not been published in any form. The back of the painting (top left corner) clearly states: Painting title (name of work), author's full name, school, class, home address and phone number. Contest paintings should be sent to the Management Board of Po Sah Inư Tower Relic, Ward 5, Phu Hai Ward, Phan Thiet City. The deadline for receiving paintings is August 30, 2024.
The Organizing Committee will divide the primary and secondary school groups for A3 paintings and A1 large paintings for scoring. The final and award ceremony is expected to be on September 20, 2024.
The painting contest on the theme "Preserving local cultural heritage" is one of the contents in the coordination program between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Education and Training on "Educational activities through cultural heritage and organizing extracurricular learning to learn about local cultural heritage at museums and relics in the province" for the period 2020 - 2025. Through the contest, it aims to develop painting talent, stimulate creative thinking, and orient children's aesthetics about cultural heritage, festivals, traditional beliefs, scenic spots, etc. of the province. Thereby, helping children improve their personality; raising their sense of responsibility for the traditional cultural heritage of the nation.
