(Fatherland) - On the morning of December 25, in Hanoi, the National Political Publishing House Truth organized a national scientific conference "Applying Ho Chi Minh's thought on publishing work in the current period".
There are currently 57 publishing houses nationwide. In recent years, the publishing industry has maintained stability, while having many positive changes, growing both in the number of books and the number of books published annually. The publishing industry has effectively served political tasks; has made new developments in operational capacity, better adapted to the market mechanism; initially met the increasingly diverse reading needs (study, entertainment, research, etc.) of readers of all professions, ages, and classes; continued to affirm its position as an important ideological and cultural field of the Party, State and people, and is a part of the advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
It can be affirmed that Ho Chi Minh's thought is still relevant, has great value and orientational significance, and is the guideline for the development of the publishing industry today.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director - Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House, emphasized: In reality, research works clarifying Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on publishing are still quite few compared to other sectors and fields. Today's workshop is one of the first large-scale events, specifically researching the clarification of Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on publishing and its application in publishing work at present.
The Organizing Committee of the conference received nearly 50 scientific papers. The authors devoted much effort and intelligence to analyzing and evaluating to clarify the contents according to the conference theme, which are: Clarifying the theoretical basis and practical value of Ho Chi Minh's thought on publishing work; assessing the current situation, pointing out the achievements and limitations in applying Ho Chi Minh's thought in current publishing work; making predictions about publishing trends in the new period.
