According to the People's Committee of Hoi An City, implementing green tourism practices to organizations and individuals doing tourism business in Thanh Ha pottery village, aiming at the goal of "Building a green tour route in Thanh Ha pottery village" is a necessary task, in line with the city's orientation. This is the first step in building a set of evidence, aiming at the goal of bringing the pottery village to green tourism standards and becoming a Green Destination.
Delegates attending the first International Conference on Rural Tourism of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) on December 11 visited and experienced Thanh Ha Pottery Village.
Accordingly, the specific goal is that 100% of homestay businesses are recognized as meeting green tourism standards according to the Quang Nam Green Tourism Criteria for Homestay; 50% of handmade ceramic production establishments and pottery-making experiences are recognized as meeting green tourism standards according to the Quang Nam Green Tourism Criteria for Tourist Attractions; 50% of beverage establishments of all kinds practice green tourism. Implement a communication activity on green tourism for visitors.
The scope of implementation is the entire core area of Thanh Ha Pottery Village, Thanh Ha Ward, Hoi An City. The subjects of implementation are homestay businesses, handmade pottery production establishments, pottery sharpening experiences and beverage establishments in the core area of Thanh Ha Pottery Village.
The contents to be implemented include: Assessing the current status of green tourism practices at Thanh Ha Pottery Village sightseeing route; developing support activities and guiding green tourism practices at handmade pottery production facilities, pottery-making experiences, beverage businesses and homestay businesses; preparing documents to request recognition of green tourism certification according to the Quang Nam Province Criteria for Homestays and Tourist Attractions; communicating about the Thanh Ha Pottery Village green sightseeing route...

Thanh Ha pottery village belongs to Nam Dieu block, Thanh Ha ward, Hoi An city, located 3km southwest of Hoi An ancient town. Thanh Ha traditional pottery village has 32 pottery production and service establishments, creating jobs for nearly 70 local workers. The village's product revenue has improved over the years. Some young workers have begun to improve traditional products to create new products such as lanterns, statues, interior and exterior decoration products to serve the decoration needs of restaurants, hotels, and gardens inside and outside the locality. In addition, service and commercial activities in the village have been developed.
In recent years, the pottery village has made positive changes, especially in reducing its impact on the environment. Most of the kilns have stopped using charcoal and switched to gas fuel, contributing significantly to reducing emissions into the environment. In addition, businesses in the village have also participated in training courses on environmental protection and tourism development.
In terms of tourism service development, the main tourism products exploited in the village are pottery making demonstrations and pottery making experiences; tourist accommodation in the village; visiting the Terracotta Park; and selling refreshment and souvenir services. After the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of visitors to the pottery village has recovered and grown well. In 2023, the total number of visitors buying tickets to visit Thanh Ha pottery village reached more than 567 thousand (revenue of more than 19.8 billion VND), an increase of more than 330% over the same period in 2022, becoming one of the most effective craft village tourism models in Quang Nam and the whole country today./.
