Last year, the production value of Hoi An city's trade sector reached about 1,065 billion VND, an increase of 11.8% compared to 2023 and reaching 107.9% of the plan.
The city has surveyed and made a list of investments to upgrade and repair infrastructure at Hoi An fish market, markets in Thanh Ha, Cam An, Cua Dai, Cam Pho, Tan An wards and put into operation the food court of Cam Chau ward night market, and exploited and managed the seafood market in Tan Hiep commune.
Many activities to build distribution channels and promote trade have been promoted both inside and outside the city. The city has also strengthened management and ensured food hygiene and safety in trade.
The production value of the industrial and handicraft sector in the year reached 733 billion VND, an increase of 2.64% compared to 2023 and exceeding the plan by 4%. Thanh Ha Industrial Cluster attracted 9 new investment projects and arranged 7 production facilities subject to relocation (phase 2) to start production.
The management of traditional occupations and craft villages has been effectively maintained. The locality has 5 more occupations including tailoring, cao lau, Hoi An lanterns, Cam Nam sticky corn, and Cam Kim sedge mats recognized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Nam.
In 2024, all 16 typical rural industrial products at the city level were evaluated and voted as typical rural industrial products at the provincial level, including 2 products winning the C prize and 3 products winning the consolation prize.
Participating in the 2024 Vietnam Handicraft Product Contest, Hoi An has 2 third-prize winning works, including "Lotus Lamp" by artisan Vo Tan Tan and "Fairyland" by Meritorious Artisan Huynh Suong.
