Coach Kim Sang Sik encourages U22 Vietnam to play football with passion

Coach Kim Sang Sik is doing the first professional work for the Vietnam U22 team to prepare for the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.

From August 13 to 17, U22 Vietnam had a short training session for coach Kim Sang Sik to review and evaluate the players' abilities to prepare for the long-term goal, towards the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games - both taking place in 2025. Among the 35 players called up, U22 Vietnam still has familiar names such as Khuat Van Khang, Ho Van Cuong, Nguyen Van Truong, Nguyen Thai Son, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Dinh Bac, Nguyen Quoc Viet, Bui Vi Hao. In addition, Mr. Kim Sang Sik called up many U20 faces such as Nguyen Gia Bao, Nguyen Bao Long, Trinh Long Vu, Mai Quoc Tu, Nguyen Quoc Khanh, goalkeeper Cao Van Binh, Pham Dinh Hai. Sharing after the first days of training, striker Nguyen Thanh Nhan said that the intensity of the training program was not too heavy. Coach Kim Sang Sik and the coaching staff spent a lot of time discussing with the whole team. "Before each training session, Coach Kim always talks to the whole team. He wants the team to show their full potential, play football happily with passion and communicate freely," Thanh Nhan said.

The U22 Vietnam coaching staff currently has Korean assistants such as Choi Won Kwon, Nam Gung Do, Yoon Dong Hun. They combine with a team of experienced youth training assistants such as Dinh Hong Vinh, Phan Nhu Thuat and goalkeeper coach Tran Minh Quang. According to the plan, U22 Vietnam will have another training session at the end of August 2024 to participate in the International U21 Friendly Football Tournament in China, taking place from September 2 to 10 in Changsha city. This tournament brings together 4 teams: host China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Uzbekistan.
