TPO - Hanoi City has just assigned relevant departments and branches, including investors, to complete preparations and start construction of Van Phuc Bridge and Thuong Cat Bridge worth more than VND11,000 billion in 2024.

Van Phuc Bridge is built on the Red River through Phuc Tho District, Hanoi. The starting point of the project is at the intersection of National Highway 32, in Phung Thuong Commune, Phuc Tho District; the end point is at the border of Hanoi and Vinh Phuc Province. In addition to the bridge, the project also includes the construction of a 7.7 km long connecting road to National Highway 32. |

According to the investment policy, the project aims to complete traffic planning, serve the needs of goods circulation and travel of people, create a premise to promote socio-economic development in Hanoi, Vinh Phuc and neighboring provinces in the capital region and the Northern key economic region. |

The width of the main bridge over the river and the viaduct over Van Coc lake and the approach bridge on the Hanoi side is 20.5 m wide, with 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles; the road connecting from National Highway 32 to the viaduct over Van Coc lake is 32 m wide, with 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles. |

The total investment of the project is more than 3,400 billion VND, the project implementation period is 2022-2027. |

The Thuong Cat Bridge and the road at both ends of the bridge project is located on Ring Road 3.5 connecting Bac Tu Liem district with Dong Anh district. |

According to the architectural design that just won first prize, the bridge is designed with the theme “Peace Bird”. The bridge is 820m long, 33m wide, divided into 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 mixed lanes. |

The project has a total investment of more than 8,300 billion VND, construction progress from 2023 to 2025. |

Regarding the progress of the Thuong Cat Bridge project, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan requested the Hanoi Transport Department and related units to speed up the investment preparation progress and start the project on October 10, 2024. |
