TPO - Despite the family's wish for privacy, people and uninvited guests still surrounded the entrance to Quy Binh's funeral and livestreamed, causing trouble.
From 2:00 p.m. on March 8 to 12:00 p.m. on March 9, the funeral of Meritorious Artist Quy Binh took place at the Southern National Funeral Home (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City). On the morning of March 9, instead of opening to welcome guests, the main gate of the funeral home was closed due to concerns that curious people and content creators would invade the solemn space inside.
According to Tien Phong reporters, uninvited guests crowded outside the funeral home gate. Despite the organizers' request to respect the family's privacy, not to film, take photos or livestream, YouTubers and TikTokers still tried to use their phones to film through the gaps in the gate.
Security forces were stationed at the door. They repeatedly asked the crowd to disperse but were ignored. People still tried to jostle to get "exclusive" images at Quy Binh's funeral. On YouTube, netizens can easily find videos with titles such as "Full view of Quy Binh's funeral", "Funeral of actor Quy Binh" or "Live funeral of actor Quy Binh on March 9"...
When visitors or artists come to say their final farewells to Quy Binh, security personnel can only open the gate slightly, just enough for that person to enter. Audiences and fans can also register to visit, but must comply with funeral regulations, otherwise they will be asked to leave.
These images caused outrage in public opinion. People criticized the act of attracting views on the pain of others as uncivilized, insensitive, and disrespectful to both the deceased and their families. Viewers commented: "People put up signs prohibiting filming, taking pictures, and livestreaming in easy-to-see locations, but many people seem blind. They have no respect for Quy Binh or his family. It's sad for the era of attracting views and likes", "It's really annoying", "Many people have too little awareness", "Please behave more civilly so that the deceased can rest in peace"...
Artist Hong To was disturbed when visiting Quy Binh on the afternoon of March 8.
Previously, Meritorious Artist My Duyen had to apologize for revealing images of artist Quy Binh, which angered public opinion. She said she only wanted to share a few last images of her close friend, not intentionally attracting attention.
Actor Quy Binh passed away at 11am on March 6 after 5 years of fighting brain cancer. His passing left many regrets for his colleagues and audiences. Many famous artists such as Thu Trang - Tien Luat couple, People's Artist of Vietnam, Trac Thuy Mieu, singer Anh Tuyet, actors Hong To, Van Trang, Thanh Truc, Meritorious Artist Cat Tuong... and many audiences who loved Quy Binh came to offer incense to bid him farewell. After the funeral, the memorial service took place at 1pm on March 9 and the funeral was held at 1:30pm on the same day.
