Currently, Hau Loc district has been preparing well for the conditions to raise 1,855 hectares of aquatic products in the spring-summer crop of 2025. Of which: 570 hectares of salt water, 550 hectares of brackish water, the remaining area is freshwater. In 2025, the district strives to achieve a total aquaculture output of 15,000 tons or more.
Typically, Hoa Loc is one of the communes developing effective high-tech aquaculture areas in Hau Loc district. “Hoa Loc commune has a total area of 418.3 hectares of agricultural land, of which 89.2 hectares are for salt production. In years with favorable weather, salt production still has low income. In many years of unfavorable weather, the lives of salt farmers in the commune are even more difficult. Overcoming disadvantages, exploiting the potential and strengths of the locality, in recent years, Hoa Loc commune has focused on converting salt production area to developing aquaculture farm models, expanding high-tech white-leg shrimp farming models... The commune has accumulated 19.7 hectares. By April 2025, Hoa Loc commune had converted 85 hectares of ineffective rice production and low-income salt production to white-leg shrimp and tiger shrimp farming, fish... bringing the total aquaculture area of the whole commune to more than 147 hectares. Of which, nearly 30 hectares are for high-tech white-leg shrimp farming, the remaining area is for semi-intensive farming. Hoa Loc commune has 317 households participating in farming aquaculture, dozens of households in the commune have become rich from aquaculture. In 2024, the aquaculture output of Hoa Loc commune reached 512 tons..." - Mr. Trinh Xuan Han, Chairman of Hoa Loc Commune People's Committee, shared.
To develop aquaculture effectively and sustainably, Hau Loc district continues to direct the accumulation and concentration of land to develop aquaculture production in the direction of large scale and high technology in the communes of Hoa Loc, Da Loc, Phu Loc, Hai Loc, Hung Loc, Minh Loc, Xuan Loc... Converting the aquaculture area from extensive to improved extensive; bringing some models from improved extensive to intensive and super-intensive farming. Propagating for people to invest in raising multiple species, multi-cropping and multi-season, paying attention to developing key farming objects with high economic value such as white-leg shrimp. Proactively converting hundreds of hectares of deep-lying rice fields and ineffective salt production land, saline dike areas to production according to the integrated farm model. Encouraging the development of high-tech, super-intensive farming models of white-leg shrimp in canvas houses and greenhouses in some communes. Calling on units and individuals to invest in concentrated aquaculture areas with an area of over 300 hectares in 2 communes (Da Loc, Xuan Loc),... contributing to the effective development of aquaculture in the district.
Talking to us, comrade Trinh Cao Son, Vice Chairman of Hau Loc District People's Committee, said: Hau Loc District People's Committee continues to review, adjust, supplement and establish new plans related to the sea, ensuring connectivity and synchronization between sectors and localities, connecting traffic infrastructure, facilitating socio-economic development in coastal areas. Applying new technologies to production development such as intensive farming models in greenhouses and net houses, applying modern communication equipment for fishing vessels, exploiting and preserving aquatic products... Building saltwater, brackishwater and freshwater aquaculture areas in the direction of high-tech intensive farming, granting farming area codes that meet the standards prescribed by the Law on Fisheries and exporting to markets. In order for farmers to feel secure in investing and increasing the value of saltwater farming, the district is adjusting the planning of tidal areas with an area of over 4,000 hectares, of which 1,000 hectares are reserved for leasing water surface for aquaculture; 1,000ha to maintain and protect mangrove forests, develop community tourism, 2,000ha to create a common travel and fishing area. Develop an effective and sustainable aquaculture economy, contributing to the socio-economic development of Hau Loc coastal district.
