Harry Kane: "I deserved a penalty"

Highlights England beat Netherlands 2-1 in Euro 2024 semi-finals

Amid criticism that England did not deserve a penalty in the 18th minute in the match against the Netherlands this morning (July 11), including criticism from several former England players, Harry Kane spoke out.

"If Dumfries from the Netherlands hadn't swung his foot out, I would have had a better shot, he tried to block my shot and his foot hit mine. I deserved a penalty," said the England captain.

In this phase, Harry Kane took a shot in the Dutch team's 16m50 area, defender Denzel Dumfries supported Harry Kane's leg. Referee Felix Zwayer (German) after consulting VAR technology, decided to award the England team a penalty.

Thanks to this penalty, Harry Kane successfully scored, equalizing 1-1 for the England team, before the foggy country team won 2-1 at the end of the second half.

Harry Kane shared: "In football, sometimes you get decisions in your favor from the referee, sometimes not. I'm glad I equalized for my team in that situation."

"England have just made history, I am proud of our achievement. It is the first time we have played in a major tournament final (World Cup and Euro) outside England. We have another important match in the next few days", Harry Kane said emotionally.

The Euro 2024 final between England and Spain will take place at 02:00 on July 15 (Vietnam time), at Olympiastadion in Berlin (Germany).
