On the morning of January 6, Urban Railway Company No. 1 announced that in the first two weeks of commercial operation, metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) exceeded the target by 300%.
According to the leader of Urban Railway Company No. 1, the peak on New Year's Day, January 1, the number of passengers using Metro No. 1 increased dramatically with 275,144 passengers. Metro No. 1's operating team has made efforts to serve passengers on the entire route and at 14 stations with 200 trains per day.
On December 31st alone, there will be 220 trains operating from 5am to 11pm (an additional hour compared to the daily operating schedule). Of which, on January 1st, there will be 246 trains operating until 2am.
On the occasion of New Year's Day, January 1, the number of passengers on metro line 1 increased by 275,144.
To ensure stable operations and best serve the people, Urban Railway Company No. 1 carries out many activities of overtime and support staff during peak hours.
At the same time, inspections and supervision are carried out to ensure order and safety for all passengers. Operators regulate the flow of passengers entering and exiting trains to avoid congestion. The information and guidance system at metro stations No. 1 has also been upgraded to provide accurate and timely information.
The unit arranges cleaning staff to work continuously to keep the train cars and stations clean. Common areas such as floors, seats, train handles, and toilets are cleaned regularly to create a comfortable environment for passengers.
However, in addition to the positive signals, the operation team also discovered many cases of metro culture violations, affecting the overall experience of all passengers. Specifically, some passengers violated regulations on doors and safety warning lines, passengers stood blocking the platform doors and train doors to wait for relatives to get on and off, causing danger.
Thousands of passengers have used the metro, proving that this new public transport system meets the needs and expectations of the community.
In addition, the opening and closing time of metro train No. 1 is only 30 seconds, but there are still passengers trying to rush out/get on the train while the door is closing.
Many passengers crossed the safety warning line despite being reminded, forcing station staff to intervene repeatedly.
Many passengers do not line up at the entrance, escalators and trains, causing disorder and affecting other passengers. There are cases of jostling and pushing to quickly get on and off the train, causing safety risks.
The unit has announced that during the free ticket period from January 2 to January 20, metro passengers only need to download and use the QR code on the HCMC METRO App, make a boarding pass at the station or use a bank card or Mastercard app to scan into the ticket reader when entering and exiting the ticket gate.
However, many passengers do not cooperate in making boarding passes or scanning QR codes when entering/exiting the gate because they think the free experience is not necessary.
Specifically, some passengers who are not priority subjects such as people with disabilities, pregnant women, the elderly, and children still use the reserved elevators, leading to people who need to use them not being able to access them in time.
Many people bring food, drinks and pets into the station, do not comply with regulations despite being reminded, affecting the common space.
In many cases, passengers leaned out of the EWD door (a door only used by station staff in emergency situations) to take pictures, did not comply with staff's reminders and continued to move to other locations to take pictures.
Besides, when taking metro line 1, there are still cases of people taking off their clothes, which is disrespectful when taking pictures.
The number of station staff is overloaded with passengers, not enough to quickly prevent this situation.
Along with that, some passengers and families let their children not have the awareness to maintain public hygiene, such as sitting on the toilet incorrectly, splashing water on the floor, or using the toilet as a personal bathroom, affecting the next user...
Passengers' failure to comply with boarding and disembarking rules, or attempts to cross the safety line when the train doors are about to close, can sometimes cause unsafe conditions, damage operating equipment, and affect operating procedures.
