According to Yonhap news agency, on March 6, South Korea and India held their first foreign ministerial-level dialogue since December 2018 to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
During the 10th Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) in Seoul, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul and his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stressed the importance of partnership in the Indo-Pacific region.
At a forum earlier this week, Jaishankar noted South Korea’s Indo-Pacific strategy, which was unveiled under the Yoon Suk Yeol administration in 2022. Jaishankar said the strategy shows the potential for the two countries to work more closely as like-minded nations in common areas, such as building reliable and resilient supply chains. India and South Korea elevated their bilateral relationship to a Special Strategic Partnership during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to South Korea in May 2015.
