(QNO) - On the morning of May 4, Squadron 21 (under the Command of Coast Guard Region 2) held a conference to disseminate information on maritime security, combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU) and give gifts to fishermen in difficult circumstances in Tam Quang commune (Nui Thanh).
Officers of the 21st Fleet informed delegates and more than 100 fishermen about how to determine internal waters, baselines, territorial waters, contiguous zones, exclusive economic zones and continental shelves according to the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea; the current situation of security and safety of our country's seas and islands; the basic contents of the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard. Dissemination of legal provisions in preventing IUU fishing, this is the content that the Coast Guard focuses on, and widely propagates to fishermen.
On this occasion, Squadron 21 presented 40 gifts and 500 national flags to fishermen in difficult circumstances in Tam Quang commune, encouraging fishermen to continue to stick to the sea for production and join hands to preserve sovereignty.
