Ha Trung strengthens forest protection measures

Ha Trung has over 5,600 hectares of forest, of which production forest area is 3,812 hectares, protection forest area is 1,267 hectares and special-use forest area (Tam Quy sen forest) is 524 hectares. To protect the forest area in the area, Ha Trung Forest Protection Department has coordinated with local authorities to proactively and synchronously deploy solutions to improve the effectiveness of forest protection work.

Ms. Pham Thi Hoa - forest owner in Kim Son village, Ha Dong commune, said: The family was assigned by the Forest Protection Management Board of Thach Thanh district to look after nearly 9 hectares of protective forest since 2003 (including 8 hectares of pine forest and nearly 0.8 hectares of acacia production forest). Since being assigned the forest land, the family has been regularly informed by forest rangers and local authorities on how to care for and protect the forest, especially how to prevent and fight forest fires during the dry and hot season. The family also spent 6 million VND to invest in building firebreaks. In particular, when clearing the undergrowth, they often gather it into small piles, burn it early in the morning or late in the afternoon and wait until it is finished before returning... Thanks to that, the entire forest area of ​​the family has grown green and lush, and there have been no forest fires.

It is known that Ha Dong commune currently has 550 hectares of forest, of which production forest is 209.9 hectares, protective forest is 297.9 hectares and special-use forest is 42.8 hectares (mainly pine, acacia and sen). To improve the effectiveness of forest management, protection, fire prevention and fighting (PCCC), in addition to promoting propaganda to raise people's awareness in forest care and protection, the locality also coordinates with Thach Thanh Protective Forest Management Board (the unit assigned to manage and protect pine forest areas), local forest rangers regularly inspect and remind people not to illegally exploit timber. At the same time, instruct people to clean the forest regularly, process the ground cover into small piles, burn during safe hours and must make a runway to avoid spreading to neighboring areas. When burning the ground cover, wait until the fire is completely burned and there are forest rangers and village chiefs to check, and only return when it is safe. In addition, in early spring, the government and people actively responded to the "Tree Planting Festival" by buying new trees to replace dead trees... Thanks to that, the local forest area is always stable, without deforestation or forest fires.

Head of Ha Trung Forest Protection Department Trinh Trung Nhat said: The Department is responsible for managing and protecting forests in Ha Trung, Hau Loc districts and Bim Son town with an area of ​​8,114 hectares. Of which, Ha Trung district has the largest area with 5,614 hectares. To protect and develop forests, in addition to doing a good job of advising the District People's Committee to issue many documents directing communes with forests to strengthen forest protection and fire prevention, the District Forest Protection Department also coordinates with functional units and local authorities to promote propaganda on forest protection and fire prevention on the radio system; integrate documents related to forest protection and fire prevention in meetings. In addition, coordinate with localities and forest owners to organize patrols and strictly manage people entering and leaving the forest, not to bring fire, explosives, and flammable substances into the forest.

In addition to propaganda and recommendations for people to regularly clear the ground cover, collect small piles and burn them at safe times, the forest rangers have arranged forces, checkpoints, guard stations, patrols, vehicles and have plans to fight forest fires according to the motto "4 on-site"... Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, for many consecutive years, especially since the beginning of 2024 until now, in Ha Trung district in particular and in localities where the unit is responsible for forest management and protection, there have been no forest fires.

Not only paying attention to and doing a good job in forest fire prevention and control, forest development as well as forest security inspection and anti-smuggling of forest products are also always paid attention to and well implemented. Every year, Ha Trung district plants hundreds of thousands of additional trees, contributing to increasing the current forest cover of the district to 20.08%. Through patrolling and inspection work, since the beginning of the year, Ha Trung Forest Protection Department has detected and promptly handled 1 case of violation of the Forestry Law, collected 7.5 million VND to the State budget, sold confiscated assets to the State budget for more than 1.6 billion VND...
