(NLDO) - Since December 23, many people in Ho Chi Minh City have used metro line 1 to go to school and work, marking a major change in daily travel habits.
Early in the morning of December 23, Mr. Do Hoang Thinh (23 years old, living in Thu Duc district), going to work at Vincom Dong Khoi, District 1, started his journey by metro line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien. This was the first time he experienced this modern means of transportation, instead of using a motorbike as before.
The group of employees went to lunch in District 1 then returned to Thao Dien to continue working.
"I usually wake up at 5:30, have a quick breakfast and then ride my motorbike to work. But during rush hour, there are constant traffic jams on Dien Bien Phu Street, making it take me nearly an hour to get there. On rainy days, getting stuck in traffic and getting my clothes wet is really stressful," Thinh shared.
This morning, he decided to try taking the metro from Binh Thai station to Ben Thanh station. The entire journey took only about 20 minutes, including the waiting time. The train ran very smoothly, the space was airy and clean, so he could sit and read the news on his phone or check his work while traveling. This was a completely different experience from the jostling and stress of driving a motorbike.
After finishing work at 5 p.m. in the afternoon, Mr. Thinh continued to take the metro from Ben Thanh station to return home. With regular frequency and on-time departure, he said he did not need to worry about being late or having to wait long.
At 3 p.m., Ngoc My (20 years old, living in District 7) shared that this was the first time she used the metro to go to school from District 7 to Thu Duc City. Previously, traveling by motorbike over long distances, along with traffic jams and hot weather, made her feel tired.

"I often ride my motorbike to school in Thu Duc, but many days I get stuck in traffic, not to mention the hot weather makes me very uncomfortable. I'm exhausted by the time I get there," My said.
After the first day of experience, My commented that the metro line was not only clean and airy but also conveniently connected to other means of transport from District 7 to Ben Thanh station. Stations such as Thu Duc and Binh Thai, near many universities, were also very convenient for students.
Minh Toan (19 years old, living in Thu Duc City), a student at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in District 5, also expressed interest in the new metro line. Previously, Toan spent nearly 50 minutes every day taking the bus from Dang Van Bi to school. But with the metro, the travel time has been significantly shortened.
According to Toan, the metro line helps save more than half of travel time. From the metro station, it is easy to connect with other means of transport such as trams, Grab, or buses, which is both convenient and affordable.
At Ben Thanh station at 3pm, there were many people waiting to board the train. The boarding areas were arranged reasonably, each passenger only had to wait 5-10 minutes.
Many passengers shared their excitement when experiencing this modern means of transport for the first time. The metro line not only saves time but also brings comfort and convenience, promising to become a popular choice in the near future .
