More than 110 areca seedlings were planted by teachers and students of Tra Tap Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Nam Tra My) along the campus and the path leading to the school. Each sapling planted is a part of the joy shared in the "Tree Planting Festival" in the new spring days.

Teacher Le Huy Phuong - Principal of Tra Tap Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities said that the program was launched to respond to the "Tet Tree Planting" movement, creating a green - clean - beautiful and environmentally friendly school landscape.

“Every year, after the Lunar New Year, the school launches a tree planting program in the school grounds and on the way to the school. This year, in response to the “Tet Tree Planting” movement, the scale was implemented on a large scale with the participation of both teachers and students. More than 110 seedlings, mainly areca trees, were planted along the way to the school, hoping to bring value in the near future,” said Mr. Phuong.

According to Mr. Phuong, the reason the school chose to plant areca trees is because this type of tree is familiar in the lives of local people. In recent years, areca trees have had quite high economic value, so besides creating an environmental landscape, areca trees are expected to bring benefits to help raise funds to support the development of education in mountainous areas.

“Through this program, the school hopes to educate and inspire students to protect the environment, contribute to planting trees and afforestation, and bring legitimate livelihoods to themselves and the community. By planting trees themselves, students will gradually become familiar with afforestation, creating more joy in learning and working,” added Mr. Phuong.

In order for the areca trees to grow well, the school's Board of Directors assigned homeroom teachers to manage and assign care tasks, helping the young trees grow well. At the same time, it is considered an extracurricular activity to help students understand the value and importance of planting trees and reforestation, joining hands to protect the living environment.

In the school's orientation, in the following years, the tree planting campaign will be expanded in schools and in the Tra Tap mountainous community of the Ca Dong people.
