Domestic gold price increased by 800,000 VND/tael
SJC Company listed the selling price of gold bars today at 86.8 million VND/tael, an increase of 800,000 VND/tael compared to yesterday. On the buying side, the price of SJC gold bars also increased by 300,000 VND/tael, to 84.8 million VND/tael.
The difference between buying and selling prices of SJC gold bars is up to 2 million VND/tael.
DOJI, PNJ, Phu Quy, Eximbank and TPBank also increased the price of gold bars to the same level as the listed price at SJC Company: buying at 84.8 million VND/tael, selling at 86.8 million VND/tael.
Mi Hong Gold Shop increased the selling price of gold bars by 500,000 VND/tael for selling and 200,000 VND/tael for buying, currently trading at 85.5 - 86.8 million VND/tael.
Bao Tin Minh Chau Company announced the buying/selling price of SJC gold bars at 84.9 million VND/tael and 86.8 million VND/tael, respectively.
Notably, the price of 9999 gold rings also skyrocketed to 86.6 million VND/tael, an increase of 800,000 VND/tael compared to yesterday and only 200,000 VND/tael lower than the price of gold bars.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau Company, the highest listed price for gold rings in the market is 85.5 million VND/tael for buying and 86.9 million VND/tael for selling, higher than the price of SJC gold bars in the market.
Why is the price of gold rings about to equal the price of gold bars?
The low price difference between gold bars and gold rings has existed for the past week, making those who bought gold rings in the past win big. Previously, the price of SJC gold bars always maintained a difference of 6-8 million VND/tael compared to 9999 gold rings.
The reason why the price of gold rings is about to equalize the gap with gold bars is because the demand for buying gold rings is increasing, the supply of raw gold is scarce because for many years businesses have not been licensed to import gold, and it is nearing the God of Wealth Day (January 10th every year).
Gold supply through border trade is also scarcer because authorities have increased their crackdown and have caught many gold smuggling rings with "huge" quantities through border provinces.
The world gold price ended the trading week at 2,691.3 USD/ounce. Converted according to the exchange rate listed at the bank, the world gold price is equivalent to 82.9 million VND/tael.
Thus, compared to the converted world gold price, the price of SJC gold bars is 3.9 million VND/tael higher, while the price of gold rings is 3.7 million VND/tael higher.
According to experts, the world gold price is currently facing many challenges including the "hawkish" monetary policy of the US Central Bank; the unpredictability of the policies of the US President-elect Donald Trump's administration and geopolitical tensions in the world. Therefore, recently the world gold price has mainly fluctuated around the threshold of 2,600 USD/ounce and has not been able to break out further.
