(NLDO) – After many consecutive days of increase, today's gold price plummeted in the context of investors selling massively, reaping profits.
World gold price today dropped sharply
Last night, the world gold price reached 2,936 USD but then suddenly "evaporated" 53 USD/ounce as investors sold to earn profits. By early February 15, the gold price today closed the weekend at 2,883 USD/ounce.
Although the price of gold has dropped sharply today, looking back at the market in recent days, analysts say that gold has had a strong start to 2025, with the price of gold possibly rising to a record high of 2,942 USD/ounce.
Concerns about budget deficits, trade disputes, wars, central banks and many other investors have increased buying power, pushing gold prices higher, said Michael Widmer, an analyst at Bank of America.
Taking a longer view, Julia Khandoshko, CEO of Mind Money, notes that the level of uncertainty in the global economy is increasing, not because of US President Donald Trump’s policy statements, but because of their frequency.
"The more policies Mr. Trump announces, the higher the level of chaos in the market. Institutional investors are looking for safe haven assets and gold is a reliable protection tool," said Ms. Julia Khandoshko.
In Vietnam, due to the increase in world gold prices on February 14, the price of SJC gold reached 91.3 million VND/tael. The price of gold rings also reached 91.1 million VND/tael.
