Specifically, the pepper purchase price in Gia Lai province is at 145,000 VND/kg; similarly, the pepper purchase price in Binh Phuoc province is at 146,000 VND/kg; the pepper purchase price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is at 146,000 VND/kg; the pepper purchase price in Dak Lak is stable at 146,000 VND/kg and the pepper purchase price in Dak Nong is increased by 200 VND/kg to 146,200 VND/kg.

Compared to last week, pepper prices this week still decreased by about 1,000 - 1,500 VND/kg in the Central Highlands and remained unchanged in the Southeast. Specifically, in Dak Nong, pepper prices are being collected at the highest level of 146,200 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to the end of last week. Similarly, pepper prices last week in Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces also decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, down to 145,000 VND/kg and 146,000 VND/kg, respectively. Meanwhile, pepper prices in Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc provinces stood at 146,000 VND/kg, equivalent to the end of last week.

According to experts, the pepper market will have an improvement in price in the coming time when the demand for goods from the US market continues to help pepper prices stabilize. The price is still trading around 145,000 - 147,000 VND/kg. In addition, export demand from major markets such as the US and EU remains high, further supporting the market.

Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Community (IPC) on December 16 as follows: the world pepper market fluctuates little and is stable. Specifically, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 6,787 USD/ton; the price of Muntok white pepper at 9,068 USD/ton.

Similarly, the price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper is currently at 6,300 USD/ton; Pepper prices in Malaysia continue to be stable compared to the previous trading session; the price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is at 8,200 USD/ton, the price of ASTA white pepper is at 10,400 USD/ton.

The export price of Vietnamese black pepper remains stable at 6,300 USD/ton for 500 g/l, 6,600 USD/ton for 550 g/l; the price of white pepper remains unchanged at 9,400 USD/ton.

According to data from the China Customs Administration, China's pepper imports as of the end of October 2024 reached 8,799 tons, worth 45.3 million USD, up 4.7% in volume and 25.2% in value over the same period last year.

Of which, Indonesia is the largest pepper supplier to China, accounting for 56.2% of the market share with a volume of 4,946 tons, worth 24.48 million USD, a sharp increase of 28.8% in volume and 47.7% in value over the same period.

In contrast, imports from the second largest supplier, Vietnam, decreased by 7% in volume but increased by 16.4% in value, reaching 2,708 tons, worth 13.2 million USD. Vietnam's pepper market share in China's total pepper imports decreased to 30.8% compared to 34.6% in the first 10 months of 2023.

Last week, the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper was listed at 6,787 USD/ton, up 1.3% (84 USD/ton) compared to the end of last week. Similarly, the price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper last week increased slightly by 25 USD/ton, to 6,300 USD/ton. The export price of 500 g/l and 550 g/l black pepper from Vietnam fluctuated between 6,300 - 6,600 USD/ton, 100 USD/ton higher than last week. The price of Malaysian Kuching black pepper remained stable at 8,200 USD/ton.
