Domestic pepper prices updated on the morning of April 3, 2025 |
According to experts, world pepper prices are currently under pressure from many factors, including a decline in output in major producing countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil. This is mainly due to prolonged adverse weather, affecting the growth of pepper plants.
In addition, pepper consumption is growing rapidly in major markets such as the US and Europe, especially in the food and spice industry, putting further pressure on global supplies.
In addition, the strong USD is also a positive factor supporting pepper prices in the international market. However, production in countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil is facing difficulties, leading to a decrease in output. It is forecasted that if supply does not improve, pepper prices may continue to remain high in the near future.
Farmers in Dak Nong province harvest pepper |
Many farmers and traders are currently tending to hold onto their goods and not sell them in large quantities, which limits the amount of pepper in circulation. It is forecasted that exports in the first quarter of 2025 may reach the lowest level in the past six years, reaching only about 43,000 - 45,000 tons.
Pepper traders said that despite harvesting more than half of the crop, many farmers still decided to keep unsold products in the hope that the value will increase in the coming time.
Forecasts for this year's output are mixed with varying numbers, but overall, the recorded output is clearly down due to reduced harvest areas and negative weather impacts.
