According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), at the end of the trading session on September 6, the price of 5% broken rice in Vietnam has decreased to 633 USD/ton (down 10 USD/ton compared to the previous trading session); 25% broken rice has also been adjusted down accordingly to 618 USD/ton.
Similarly, the price of 5% broken rice from Thailand decreased slightly by 5 USD/ton to 628 USD/ton. In particular, the price of 25% broken rice from this country increased by 7 USD/ton to 575 USD/ton.
The rice export market has a "tug of war" between sellers and buyers to achieve better prices.
Domestically, rice prices have stagnated in the last 2-3 sessions. At An Giang warehouses, OM 5451 rice is priced at 7,800 - 8,100 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice is stable at 8,000 - 8,200 VND/kg; OM 18 rice fluctuates around 8,000 - 8,200 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 is priced at 8,000 - 8,400 VND/kg; IR 50404 rice is stable at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; Nhat rice is 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg.
For sticky rice, fresh An Giang sticky rice is at 6,300 - 6,500 VND/kg; fresh Long An sticky rice fluctuates around 7,300 - 7,450 VND/kg.
Regarding rice, today's rice prices fluctuated in opposite directions with a slight increase in raw rice. Meanwhile, the price of finished rice decreased compared to yesterday. Specifically, IR 504 raw rice fluctuated around 11,750 - 11,850 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice decreased by 100 VND/kg to 13,900 - 14,000 VND/kg.
As for by-products, prices have not fluctuated. Accordingly, the price of IR 504 sheet is at 11,700 VND/kg; the price of dry bran is at 7,250 - 7,300 VND/kg.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in August, due to the influence of world prices, some commodities tended to increase in price such as: gasoline, LPG, domestic wholesale price of white sugar (in particular, domestic retail price of sugar remained stable at a high level).
Domestic rice prices have also increased quite sharply, especially raw rice for export. The price of paddy and ordinary rice is estimated to increase by about 500-1,500 VND/kg, depending on the type and locality.
