Meeting with retired officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs on the occasion of welcoming the Lunar New Year 2025

On the morning of January 14, 2025, at the Ministry's headquarters, the Ministry of Home Affairs held an intimate meeting with retired officials of the Ministry's agencies on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025. Comrade Pham Thi Thanh Tra, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Home Affairs chaired the meeting.

Attending the meeting were comrade Do Quang Trung, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister of Home Affairs; comrade Tran Van Tuan, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister of Home Affairs, Head of the Retired Liaison Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Cao Huy; former Deputy Ministers of Home Affairs of different periods; former leaders, civil servants, and public employees of the units of the Ministry's agencies; leaders of units of the Ministry's agencies; Party Committee of the Ministry, Trade Union and Youth Union of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The New Year meeting is an annual activity organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs to express gratitude to generations of leaders, cadres, civil servants and retired employees. This is also an opportunity to create opportunities for exchanges, meetings, visits, and create close relationships and emotional attachments between cadres who are still working and those who have retired. At the same time, it shows the respect of the leaders of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the contributions of previous generations to the development of the Ministry and the Home Affairs sector.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra informed about the political, economic and social situation of the country in recent times; at the same time, reported to retired cadres of the Ministry's agencies on the achievements of the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2024 and the key directions and tasks in 2025.

The Minister affirmed that 2024 is a year of great success, the Ministry of Home Affairs has made a huge and important contribution to the overall success of the country, a typical year of hardship and toil, a typical year of overcoming difficulties to rise up, a typical year of spirit, courage, self-reliance, dynamism, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility and also a typical year of "nothing is impossible", find a way to do it, the more difficult it is, the more motivation and resources there are for the collective Party Executive Committee of the Ministry, the collective leadership of the Ministry, the collective leadership team and cadres, civil servants and public employees of affiliated and subordinate units to strive to fulfill assigned tasks well.

At the Government's summary meeting, the Government highly appreciated the Ministry of Home Affairs as the leading unit among all ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and government agencies in 2024 for its outstanding efforts, spirit, and achievements, making extremely important contributions. Never before has the Ministry of Home Affairs completed such a huge, difficult, complicated, sensitive, and heavy workload as in 2024. Specifically:

Firstly, the Ministry has advised competent authorities to complete the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units for the 2023-2025 period. It has presided over the completion of documents submitted to the Government for submission to the National Assembly Standing Committee for approval of 51/51 Projects of localities subject to arrangement.

Second, the Ministry has made great efforts and flexibly advised on implementing the salary policy reform roadmap in the spirit of Resolution No. 27-NQ/TW. Accordingly, in 2024, the basic salary, pension, social insurance allowance, preferential allowance for meritorious people and social allowance will be adjusted to increase from VND 1,800,000/month to VND 2,340,000/month (an increase of 30% - the highest level ever) and instructions on implementing a bonus mechanism of 10% of the total basic salary fund.

Third, actively participate in the unprecedented revolution in the organization of the entire political system with the spirit of "fast - compact - strong" and with the goal of "streamlining - compact - strong - effective - efficient - effective". At the same time, advise and submit to competent authorities to amend the provisions in relevant Laws.

Fourthly, in terms of institutions, it has advised on the promulgation and promulgation under its authority a total of 169 documents including: Directives, Conclusions of the Politburo, Resolutions of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, Resolutions, Directives, Decrees of the Government and Circulars of the Minister. Focus on advising the Government to report to the National Assembly the following laws: Law on Organization of the Government (amended) and Law on Organization of Local Government (amended), Law on Cadres and Civil Servants (amended).

Fifth, regarding emulation and rewards, the Central Emulation and Rewards Committee has advised the Minister on many important matters, especially a number of movements such as "500 days and nights of emulation to complete 3,000km of expressway", "Eliminating dilapidated houses by 2025" to create emulation movements spreading throughout the country.

Sixth, the Ministry is making efforts to perform well the state management work in all areas: administrative reform, promoting the digital transformation of the Ministry, the National Database on cadres, civil servants, and public employees; document and archive work; youth work; non-governmental organization work; legal work; religious work; inspection work, etc.

In general, by the end of 2024, the Ministry's tasks were completed on schedule and no tasks were transferred to 2025.
