On the morning of February 2 (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year 2025), the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City solemnly held the Ceremony to announce the list of national intangible cultural heritage of the traditional festival "Boat racing festival of Tinh Long commune, Quang Ngai city".
Authorized by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang presented the Certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival to the representative of Quang Ngai City government.

For Quang Ngai province, this is an important event, recognizing the efforts of all levels, sectors and people of Quang Ngai city in preserving and promoting intangible cultural values in the province.

The traditional boat racing festival of Tinh Long commune was born in ancient times, associated with the process of land reclamation and settlement of Vietnamese people from the end of the 16th century and has existed for hundreds of years.
The boat racing festival of Tinh Long commune is held every two years, in early spring, attracting a large number of people to participate, creating a vibrant festival atmosphere during the Lunar New Year of the people of Tinh Long commune in particular and Quang Ngai in general.

The Tinh Long boat racing festival is representative of Quang Ngai province with many unique cultural features, closely associated with the lives of residents living in the downstream of Tra Khuc river. It is a traditional cultural and religious activity of agricultural residents, praying for favorable weather, good crops, and peace for the people; at the same time, it connects the spirit of solidarity and love among the people, arouses the spirit of physical exercise, health training, and striving to build a rich and beautiful homeland.

“The ceremony to announce the list of national intangible cultural heritage of the traditional festival “Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival, Quang Ngai City” is an occasion to honor the value of cultural heritage with strong vitality, lasting over time; honor the silent and persistent efforts of the community in preserving and promoting the value of heritage; promote the responsibility of passing on heritage between generations and practicing heritage in today's life”, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang expressed.
At the same time, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province said that exploring the heritage of the Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival in early spring in the charming river scene of the lower Tra Khuc River, associated with the scenic mountain and Thien Ma Pagoda, the scenic Co Luy Co Thon, with the natural scenery and peaceful and beautiful Tinh Long village is a great cultural potential opportunity to develop tourism in the locality and the entire coastal area of Quang Ngai.
To promote the effectiveness of this cultural heritage, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City and the People's Committee of Tinh Long Commune, according to the decentralization of management authority for the relic, to continue to pay attention to preserving and promoting the value of the cultural heritage; develop specific plans and programs to preserve and promote the cultural values and rituals of the festival.
Create conditions to support the people of Tinh Long commune to maintain and organize annual festivals; combine festival activities with tourism programs and activities to create a series of rich, diverse and attractive activities to serve the people and tourists, contributing to promoting the tourism image of Quang Ngai. Strengthen propaganda and education for the younger generation about the value of heritage.

According to Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai City People's Committee Nguyen Van Anh, the inclusion of the Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival in the list of national intangible cultural heritage is an honor and pride; at the same time, it also places a great responsibility on the Party Committee, government and people of the city in preserving and promoting the value of the heritage.
In the coming time, Quang Ngai City will continue to join hands and unite to effectively carry out the work of preserving and promoting the heritage value of "Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival" to serve the local socio-economic development, with specific solutions, both immediate and long-term, to create new vitality for the heritage, enriching the cultural heritage treasure of the country today and tomorrow.
