Cai Rang Floating Market Cultural Tourism Festival (Festival) is an annual event organized by Cai Rang District People's Committee and Can Tho City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in response to Vietnam Tourism Day (July 9), and is also an event that contributes to preserving and connecting the conservation of floating market cultural heritage. This year, the Festival has many new activities with many experiences.

Cai Rang Floating Market Cultural Tourism Festival was first held in 2016, the time when Cai Rang Floating Market Culture was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. After 6 times of organization, the Festival has become an indispensable event, connecting and closely associated with the daily life of floating market people.

The festival is an annual event to introduce and promote the land and people of Can Tho, contributing to preserving, conserving and promoting heritage, gradually bringing a new look to Cai Rang floating market, attracting tourists from near and far.

Coming to the Festival, visitors have the opportunity to experience the real life of the merchants, understand more about the culture of the Southwest river through diverse activities. For the floating market people, the Festival is even more meaningful as it is an opportunity to show the hospitality of the Western people, introducing the beauty of the Can Tho river culture.

The 7th Festival in 2023 has the theme of Preserving and Developing Cai Rang Floating Market Culture, taking place for 3 days, from July 10 to 12 at Cai Rang Floating Market Rest Stop (No. 17/2, Vo Tanh Street, Yen Thuan Area, Le Binh Ward).

This year, the festival has 15 activities with highlights such as: Opening ceremony, cruise ship parade on the river, Ao Ba Ba beauty contest of the past and present, Model boat - bamboo pole display contest for buying and selling agricultural products on Cai Rang floating market, Digital tourism transformation festival between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta. Notably, at this year's event, Miss Bao Ngoc is the image ambassador.

The opening ceremony took place on July 10 at Cai Rang Floating Market Stop with an elaborate art performance program, emphasizing the characteristics of the life of people in the river region and the unique culture of Cai Rang Floating Market.

The festival also includes tourism promotion activities, booths introducing OCOP products, local agricultural products, folk cakes, amateur music performances on the floating market, an expanded dragon boat race, social security activities, art performances, environmental protection activities such as picking up trash on the river, etc.

Ms. Tran Thi Kieu Trang (tourist from Ho Chi Minh City) said: "Experiencing the activities here, what I find most interesting are the model boats displayed at the river wharf area."

To prepare for the Festival to take place safely and successfully, the People's Committee of Cai Rang District has coordinated with relevant departments to develop a plan to divide traffic routes, ensuring safe circulation for visitors. The dishes and fruits for sale are selected from reputable establishments, ensuring food hygiene and safety, and publicly listed prices.

Security, order, safety, environmental sanitation, and fire prevention are tightened to ensure that people feel secure when visiting, playing, and entertaining. Forces are on duty regularly at the main area where activities take place and patrol the Cai Rang floating market and the Ninh Kieu Wharf area.

Three 'virtual living' spots during late lychee season in Bac Giang

Tan Son lychee market, Cam Son lake and lychee gardens in Tan Son are in harvest season and are ideal destinations for tourists to visit. Luc Ngan is a mountainous district of Bac Giang province, known by the nickname "Kingdom of lychees". In 2023, the whole district will have more than 19,000 hectares of lychee, with an estimated output of 98,000 tons, according to the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports of Bac Giang.

Strengthening cooperation and linkage for Bac Giang tourism development

(BGDT) - On the afternoon of July 7, the Bac Giang Provincial Tourism Association held a conference to implement Resolution 82/NQ-CP dated May 18, 2023 of the Government, celebrating the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam tourism industry on July 9 (1960-2023), and evaluating the results of tourism activities in the first 6 months of 2023.
