The school dental program is an activity aimed at gradually taking care of oral health, reducing the rate of oral diseases for students in particular and the community in general.
To realize the importance of dental care, train children in the habit of keeping their teeth clean and healthy, and minimize oral diseases, schools play a key role in educating and disseminating knowledge about oral hygiene to students.
Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Hospital organized free dental check-ups for nearly 500 students, and provided non-traumatic dental fillings for students of Tan Lap B Primary School (Dan Phuong District). This is a practical and meaningful activity for children in the school health care program.
At the same time, the unit also provided training and guidance on oral health care, and promoted prevention of oral diseases among school-age children for teachers and students; and donated tools to the school: a set of children's tooth extraction forceps, an examination set, a tooth filling set, and a bean tray for the school to prevent oral diseases for students.
According to the plan, in September and October, Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital will coordinate with units to conduct dental examinations, consultations and training for 10 dental schools in the following districts: Dong Anh, Phuc Tho, Ba Dinh, Thuong Tin, Me Linh, Phu Xuyen, Hoai Duc.
The Hanoi Department of Health directed the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training of districts, towns and cities to guide and support schools in implementing school dentistry and disseminating knowledge about school dentistry.
Along with that, the units coordinate to guide students on oral hygiene and proper tooth brushing; maintain the quality of the model of school dentistry and continue to replicate the model to schools in the city. In addition, the hospital also supports the District, Town and City Health Centers on school dentistry in schools.
In the coming time, the health sector will continue to implement school health work. This includes health care for students, teachers, and school staff such as specialized health check-ups, nutritional assessment for students, first aid, school dentistry, prevention of eye diseases, scoliosis, etc.; notifying families of cases of illness to coordinate referral for treatment.
The Hanoi Department of Health will coordinate with districts to strengthen inspection and supervision of contents related to school health activities, and inspect according to assigned topics and fields.
