According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, each year, about 1,900 children die in traffic accidents nationwide, a rate about three times higher than that of other countries in the region. The main reason is that school-age children are not fully aware of traffic safety; adults do not wear helmets for their children when participating in traffic; and children's safety on the road is not given due attention.

In Quang Tri, in the first 9 months of 2024, the whole province had 166 traffic accidents, killing 80 people and injuring 130 people, including many traffic accidents involving school-age children.

The program of giving helmets to first graders with the theme "Keeping the dream alive" has been jointly implemented by the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training and Honda Vietnam Company for many years. The goal of the program is to raise awareness and maintain compliance with wearing helmets for all people, especially children. Thereby, contributing to increasing the rate of wearing standard helmets for motorcyclists, motorbikes, electric bicycles and minimizing the consequences caused by traffic accidents, forming a culture of behavior when participating in traffic.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Quang Tri province has nearly 13,000 first graders and according to the program plan, each student will be given a standard helmet sponsored by Honda Vietnam Company.
