On October 22, Hai Ba Trung District Police (Hanoi) said that the Criminal Police team had just persuaded Le Quy Nho (born in 1962, from Hung Yen), the man who broke into a house and stole property while almost naked, to surrender.
Three weeks earlier, on September 30, Pham Dinh Ho Ward Police, Hai Ba Trung District, received a report from a person on Nguyen Trung Ngan Street about a burglar breaking into his home and stealing property.
The ward police coordinated with related units to determine the amount of stolen property to be approximately more than 25 million VND. Notably, through extracting camera data, the authorities recorded the intruder stealing the property in a nearly naked state.
After identifying the suspect as Le Quy Nho, Hai Ba Trung District Police persuaded him to surrender.
According to Nho's statement, because his security job brought him an unstable income, he had the idea of stealing. From around August 2024, Nho "spyed" on vulnerable houses, looking for an opportunity to strike. On the night of September 29, after finishing his shift, Nho went to the Hang Chuoi - Nguyen Trung Ngan area and climbed onto the roofs, looking for a way to break in.
When he discovered that the attic door of a second-floor house was unlocked, Nho crawled in. Before that, the thief had taken off his clothes, wearing only underwear, to make it easier to move and escape if discovered. Nho ransacked the house, took 9 million VND and a cell phone, leaving behind his laptop and camera because they were difficult to carry.
After committing the crime, the thief returned to his rented room on Quan Thanh Street, Ba Dinh District, and then fled to his hometown in Hung Yen. On October 21, knowing that he had been discovered by the police, Nho turned himself in.
