UEFA has confirmed that pitch invaders will be expelled from the stadium, banned from all matches and face criminal charges.
On June 23, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced increased security measures at 10 stadiums in Germany after many fans invaded the pitch to approach their football idol, culminating in 6 fans trying to take selfies with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Details of the enhanced measures have not been released, but UEFA has confirmed that pitch invaders will be expelled from the stadium, banned from all matches and face criminal charges.
The most notable incident occurred during Portugal's 3-0 win over Türkiye on June 22, when four fans chased Cristiano Ronaldo across the pitch.
After the match in Dortmund ended, many other fans also acted similarly.
Although fans appeared to be just taking pictures, UEFA stressed that stadium security was increased to protect the players.
Previously, in matches at EURO 2024, there were also cases of fans invading the field, including a case where a person holding a camera approached Kevin De Bruyne, the star of the Belgian team, in the match against Slovakia.
After two matches on June 23, EURO 2024 has passed the halfway point with 26 out of 51 matches having taken place./.
In December 2023, the EURO 2024 finals draw held at a concert hall in Hamburg was also interrupted when the sound system suddenly emitted strange noises.
