The Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) issued a warning about impersonating singers and artists to commit fraud.
Previously, actor Khoi Tran became the "prey" of bad guys, by impersonating famous people, using AI technology to fake images, voices and video calls to scam people.
The actor said that a person named NVS used his image and created a fake Facebook account to commit fraud.
Notably, this subject used AI technology to fake images, voices and video calls to build trust with victims, then tricked victims into transferring money.
After successfully taking the money, the scammer blocked the victims' social media accounts. Some victims thought it was the actor's real account and used harsh insults.
The situation of famous artists being impersonated for bad purposes on social networks has been a problem in recent times.
Accordingly, the common characteristic of fake pages is that they often add the word “official” or “FC” ambiguously, or a fake blue tick right next to the artist’s name. These actions directly harm the artist’s reputation and image.
