Duc Tho deploys vaccination for more than 99,000 pets in the first phase of 2025

In 2024, the work of preventing and controlling epidemics for livestock and poultry has received attention and direction from the Party Committee, authorities at all levels and functional branches of Duc Tho district. Accordingly, the results of vaccination against lumpy skin disease in buffaloes and cows were 5,813, reaching 75% of the plan; foot-and-mouth disease, erysipelas in buffaloes and cows were 11,514, reaching 96.2% of the plan; swine fever, erysipelas in pigs were 15,620, reaching 102.9% of the plan; avian influenza was vaccinated against 70,895, reaching 53.5% of the plan; rabies was vaccinated against 10,395 dogs, reaching 124% of the plan.

Leaders of Duc Tho District People's Committee directly deployed the first vaccination campaign of 2025 on the morning of March 25.

In 2025, in order to proactively implement effective measures to prevent and control animal diseases, the People's Committee of Duc Tho district has directed localities, the agricultural and environmental sectors to count the total number of livestock and poultry that must be vaccinated, at the same time, establish steering committees for vaccination, disease prevention for livestock and poultry, and direct and effectively implement regulations on disease prevention and control.

Accordingly, the total herd of livestock, poultry and pets in Duc Tho district is currently 133,138. The vaccination period is divided into 2 main phases: phase 1 from March to May 2025 and phase 2 from September to October 2025. The target for the first phase of vaccination in 2025 is about 99,042 animals, focusing on vaccination against diseases such as foot and mouth disease, septicemia, lumpy skin disease in buffalo and cows; septicemia, swine fever; H5N1 influenza in chickens and ducks and rabies in dogs.

In addition to the two main vaccination rounds, localities regularly carry out supplementary vaccinations for livestock, poultry, and pets that must be vaccinated but have not been vaccinated in the main rounds, those that have expired their immunity period, and those that have just arisen.
