Attending the recent Quang Dien District Innovation Forum, I met many typical startup faces. This is because Quang Dien District determined that innovation creates values based on exploiting intelligence, technology, and new sustainable business models. Therefore, over the years, Quang Dien District has had many policies and guidelines, creating the most favorable conditions and environment for innovation. The District People's Committee has specified mechanisms, policies and projects to support the innovation ecosystem.
Mr. Ngo Hop in Kim Doi village, Quang Thanh commune specializes in producing dry sliced noodles. He and his wife are always researching, learning and innovating production methods. To develop their product brand, Mr. Hop boldly borrowed capital to expand production scale. From the first dried noodles when it was put into operation, his facility now has a full range of brown rice noodles, turmeric noodles, Khang Dan noodles and sliced noodles.... With an average of more than 10 tons of products per month, Hong Loan dried sliced noodles production facility supplies the market with more than 150 million VND/month in revenue and creates jobs for more than 10 local workers.
Young Union member Ngo Minh Hieu, in Bac Vong Dong village, Quang Phu commune, after graduating from the Faculty of Food Technology at Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, boldly returned to his hometown to establish a Quang Phu agricultural production and processing facility with the specialty "Garlic and Chili Peanuts". After 3 years of starting a business, Hieu's two main products, "Garlic and Chili Peanuts" and "Roasted and Shelled Peanuts", have established a foothold in the national market. The average revenue of the facility reaches 2.5 billion VND/year and creates regular jobs for 10-15 workers, with a salary of 4.5-5 million VND/person/month. Hieu won the first prize in the 2022 Startup Competition organized by the Provincial Youth Union in 2022, the third prize in the startup competition organized by the province and entered the TOP 10 National by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mr. Truong Thanh Hung, Vice Chairman of the National Advisory Council for Startups and Innovation, said that Quang Dien currently has many outstanding young startup faces of Thua Thien Hue province. Quang Dien in particular and Thua Thien Hue in general are among the few localities that have proposed the best startup support policies in the country. Wherever I go, startups in other provinces and cities have to compare and envy startups in Thua Thien Hue province. In Hue, I always support closely because Hue people are very hard-working and determined.
Mr. Le Ngoc Bao, Chairman of Quang Dien District People's Committee, said that the production and business development situation in the district in recent years has had positive changes. The structure of rural industries has changed significantly and developed in a diverse way, industrial products and small-scale industries have developed towards commodity production, rural industries and traditional handicrafts have been constantly restored and developed stably.
Currently, the district has over 500 enterprises, cooperatives, and industrial and handicraft production households. Many establishments have boldly applied science and technology to production, expanded their scale, diversified their products, improved product quality, and many OCOP products, agricultural products, specialties, and handicrafts of the district have reached out to foreign markets, such as: rattan and bamboo products, products from pennywort, mechanical machinery products, dried noodles, fish sauce, roasted peanuts, etc.
“Start-up activities are one of the key factors creating sustainable development for enterprises. In Quang Dien district, with the results that have appeared in many typical examples of start-up projects, it has encouraged young people and enterprises to carry out start-up projects, gradually forming a widespread start-up ecosystem. These are also the marks in the journey to turn Quang Dien into a “creative land” in the coming time” - Secretary of Quang Dien District Party Committee Tran Quoc Thang affirmed.
