In 2024, Yen Bai will continue to become an attractive destination due to the diverse development of tourism products and types along with many effective market stimulus policies, attracting the highest number of tourists ever, creating impressive growth, making Yen Bai tourism an important economic sector, firmly affirming its position as the leading destination in the Northwest region.

Ms. Vu Thi Mai Oanh - Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said: "Many localities of the province have a cool climate all year round, beautiful natural landscapes and unique cultures of ethnic minorities, which have formed unique and characteristic tourism products. With the policy of "using culture to develop tourism, using tourism to preserve culture", in recent times, Yen Bai has been focusing on preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage, scenic spots, and craft villages associated with tourism development, creating livelihoods for people.

According to statistics, Yen Bai currently has 574 intangible cultural heritages; of which, 1 is a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity; 6 heritages are recognized as national intangible cultural heritages. Therefore, when experiencing tourism in Yen Bai, visitors are immersed in the cultural space of ethnic minorities through festivals: Gau Tao festival, Mong flute festival; new rice celebration; terraced field festival of Mong people or Cap sac ceremony of Dao people; Xen ban, xen muong festival of Thai people; Long tong festival of many ethnic groups...

Tourists experience climbing "Dinosaur's spine" on Ta Xua peak, Tram Tau district.

Although Tram Tau is a particularly difficult district of the province, it has built many unique and impressive tourism products to attract domestic and foreign tourists, especially the district has exploited the potential of hot mineral springs, resort tourism, and experiential tourism. If a few years ago, the whole district only had Cuong Hai Hot Mineral Spring Ecological Area, now dozens of homestays with billions of VND invested in construction have come into operation.

Mr. Vu Manh Hung - Owner of Homestay A Hung shared: "My family's homestay is located right on the way to the hot spring resort. Realizing that the number of tourists is increasing, the hot spring resort is no longer able to accommodate, so I have invested in building a system of small but beautiful bungalows, fully equipped, with a garden system, lots of flowers and trees, and a system of restaurants and cafes. The homestay has linked up with the hot spring resort to meet the needs of relaxation and hot spring bathing at a more economical cost. We also connect with local tourism service establishments to exchange useful information and experiences, link up to create tours, and are willing to share customers with each other so that all of us can develop together and build a civilized and hospitable community."

Up to now, in Tram Tau district, there are 43 accommodation establishments; of which, 1 hotel meets 3-star standards, 5 motels, 37 homestays meet accommodation business standards. The common point of these establishments is that they have a new way of doing tourism, pay attention to marketing strategies, focus on building houses, spaces, campuses, forming check-in points, sightseeing...

In the mountainous district of Mu Cang Chai, in the past 2 years, the whole district has put into operation over 20 new tourism products. Typically, eco-tourism to see terraced fields has been recognized as a special national landscape. At the time of rice ripening, throughout the valleys and mountain slopes, the golden terraced fields, winding into the green of the mountains and forests, create an endless beauty that attracts tourists.

Mr. Trinh The Binh - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Mu Cang Chai district added: not only the beauty of the terraced fields, but also the natural daily life and customs and living habits are creating attractive tourism products for tourists. Mang Mu corn house in Mang Mu village, Mo De commune is an example. Formed from the daily working life of the Mong ethnic people in the highlands, with many creative decorations, Mang Mu corn house has become an attractive experiential tourist destination, an interesting check-in point for many domestic and international tourists.

Assessing the province's tourism activities in 2024, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - Nong Viet Yen excitedly said: Yen Bai tourism has developed strongly in the past year, truly becoming an indispensable attractive destination for tourists, bringing visitors interesting and unique experiences on their journey to the Northwest. That result is the foundation and motivation for Yen Bai tourism to achieve higher goals and reach further in 2025 and the following years.

To turn heritage into assets, Yen Bai continues to invest more in the formation of new types of tourism, striving for each commune to have at least one tourism product. In 2024 alone, the whole province has 16 newly recognized tourism products. Therefore, the number of tourists in 2024 increased to a record high, the whole province welcomed more than 2.1 million visitors, generating revenue of nearly 1,800 billion VND, nearly 120% of the plan.
