Open new flight route, bring passengers to Da Nang

To date, Da Nang has 23 domestic and international routes. In 2025, many new routes are expected to open from Incheon (South Korea), Bangkok (Thailand), Osaka (Japan), Yangon (Myanmar)... or from Russia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East to Da Nang, promising to bring tourists to the city on the Han River.

Recently, the tourism industry has focused on promoting air tourism, and a series of working sessions with domestic and foreign airlines have been held.

Domestic flights currently have 7 flights to Da Nang city including: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Lat, Hai Phong, Can Tho, Phu Quoc route reopens from November 2024, Buon Ma Thuot - Da Nang route opens in October 2024.

There are 16 international flights to Da Nang: Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Taipei - Taichung - Kaohsiung (Taiwan - China), Macau (China), Hong Kong (China), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Incheon - Busan - Daegu - Cheongju (Korea), Narita (Japan), Manila (Philippines)...

In 2024, reopen international routes (Vientiane - Laos, Ahmedabad - India); promote the opening of new routes (Cheongju - Korea, Taichung - Taiwan, China). In addition, two new airlines will operate for the first time in Da Nang, specifically Malaysia Airlines operating the Kuala Lumpur - Da Nang route; Hong Kong Airlines operating the Hong Kong (China) - Da Nang route; launch charter flights from Jakarta (Indonesia). The average frequency is 111 flights/day to Da Nang, including 52 international flights and 59 domestic flights.

According to Vietjet Air, the direct flight route from Da Nang to Ahmedabad is operated with a frequency of 2 round trips/week. After about 4 months of operating this route, the airline has served nearly 10,000 passengers traveling between the two cities, opening up many opportunities to expand cooperation, develop tourism, trade and cultural exchange between Vietnam and India.

Following the achieved results, in 2025, many new routes will be opened to bring passengers to Da Nang. Specifically, from January 23, Air Premia will operate the Da Nang - Incheon (Korea) route by wide-body aircraft, with a frequency of 4 flights/week; Vietnam Airlines will reopen the Bangkok - Da Nang route from March 30 and the Osaka (Japan) - Da Nang route on July 3; Myanmar Airways International will open the route from Yangon (Myanmar) - Da Nang, with a frequency of 2 flights/week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting on April 2.

For the route from Manila (Philippines) - Da Nang, Royal Air continues to operate charter flights and replace wide-body aircraft with a frequency of 4 days/flight; for the route from Jakarta (Indonesia) - Da Nang, Citi Links continues to operate flights from March to October 2025.

For flights from Russia and Eastern Europe, units such as Crystal Bay, Anex... are opening flights from Eastern Europe (to Da Nang expected from March 30 to the end of October 2025. For flights connecting the Middle East, Emirates airline is promoting the opening of a flight route from Dubai - Bangkok - Da Nang with a frequency of 7 flights/week and expected to operate from June 1, 2025.

According to information from Vietnam Airlines, the unit will resume the Da Nang - Bangkok route with a frequency of 4 flights/week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays; in the coming time, if qualified, the operating frequency will be increased to 7 flights/week. For the route between Da Nang and Osaka, the unit will operate with a frequency of 4 flights/week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. In addition, the unit has previously operated 2 international routes to Da Nang: Da Nang - Seoul (Korea) with a frequency of 7 flights/week and Da Nang - Tokyo (Japan) with a frequency of 7 flights/week.

“The top 10 international tourist markets to Da Nang in 2024 include Thailand and Japan. Exploiting international routes to Da Nang contributes to meeting the travel, tourism and trade needs between Vietnam and the two countries mentioned above. Currently, Vietnam Airlines is the only airline operating flights from Japan to Da Nang with a frequency of 7 flights/week.

By reopening the Da Nang - Osaka route from July, Vietnam Airlines will increase the number of direct flights from Da Nang to the Japanese market to 2, with a frequency of 11 flights/week. As the national airline, the airline will continue to accompany the city in researching and evaluating the market and hopes to have more international routes in the near future," said a representative of Vietnam Airlines.

The fact that airlines are launching new routes, especially to new international tourist markets of Da Nang, is considered by the business community as an opportunity and potential for the tourism industry.

“Opening new routes helps Da Nang reduce its dependence on some traditional tourist markets, creating more balance and stability for the tourism industry; accessing new markets such as Russia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, exploiting the tourism potential of these regions. At the same time, Da Nang's position is also enhanced; for example, routes connecting to major centers such as Dubai help Da Nang affirm its position as an important international tourist destination; the presence of major airlines such as Emirates contributes to promoting the image of Da Nang in the international arena, attracting the attention of tourists and investors…”, said Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Deputy Director of Hai Van Cat International Travel Company.
