Forecast of saltwater intrusion in the province from March 27 to April 6, 2025

Check the salinity of water in rivers before watering and caring for crops.

According to the Director of the Provincial Hydrometeorological Station Dang Hoang Lam, it is forecasted that from March 27 to April 6, 2025, there will be no rain in the hydrological weather. Particularly, from March 31 to April 2, 2024, there will be unseasonal rain (including 1-2 days of widespread rain).

In the Southeast Sea, from March 27 to 29, 2025, the South - Southeast wind is weak. From March 30 to April 6, 2025, the East to Northeast wind is medium. The highest daily tide gradually rises from March 27 to 30, with little change on March 31, 2025, gradually descends from April 1 to 4, 2025, rises slowly and has little change on April 5 and 6, 2025. The lowest daily tide has little change and gradually descends on March 27 and 28, rises on March 29, with little change on March 30 and 31, 2025; gradually descends on days 1 and 2, and gradually rises from April 3 to 6, 2025.

On Cua Dai River, the highest daily salinity intrusion tends to decrease slowly and change little on days 27 and 28, gradually decreasing from March 29 to April 3, 2025; then changing little from day 4, increasing on April 6, 2025. Salinity of 4‰ intrudes to Hoa Hung hamlet, Giao Hoa commune, Chau Thanh district, 41.5km from the river mouth. Salinity of 1‰ intrudes to An Thoi B hamlet, An Khanh commune, Chau Thanh district, 52.0km from the river mouth.

On Ham Luong River, the highest daily salinity intrusion tends to decrease gradually from March 27 to April 3, 2025, with little change on April 4, and gradually increase on April 5 and 6, 2025. Salinity of 4‰ intrudes to Hoa Thanh hamlet, An Hiep, Chau Thanh district; Thanh Xuan 2 hamlet, Thanh Tan commune, Mo Cay Bac district, 56.0 km from the river mouth. Salinity of 1‰ intrudes to Phu Luong hamlet, Tan Phu commune, Chau Thanh district; Long Vinh hamlet, Long Thoi commune, Cho Lach district, 69.3 km from the river mouth.

On the Co Chien River, the highest daily salinity intrusion tends to change little on the 27th, gradually decreasing from March 28, 2025 to April 3, increasing slightly and changing little from April 4 to 6, 2025. Salinity of 4‰ penetrates to Giong Dac hamlet, Nhuan Phu Tan commune, Mo Cay Bac district, 54.1km from the river mouth. Salinity of 1‰ penetrates to Son Chau hamlet, Son Dinh commune, Cho Lach district, 73.6km from the river mouth.

Disaster risk level due to saltwater intrusion: Level 2.

The functional sector recommends: The salinity intrusion situation on the main rivers will decrease slowly and change little on March 27 and 28, gradually decrease from March 29 to April 3 and 4, 2025, and increase on April 5 and 6, 2025. Localities located 52 - 73.6 km or less from the river mouth should monitor and check the salinity when operating sluices and using river water directly.
