According to the provincial planning during this period, Ben Tre will have 3 economic zones including the eastern coast with Ba Tri, Binh Dai, Thanh Phu districts and the sea space belonging to Ben Tre province with a length of 65 km; the area north of Ham Luong river with Ben Tre city, Chau Thanh and Giong Trom; and the area south of Ham Luong river with Mo Cay Bac, Mo Cay Nam and Cho Lach districts.
The 50,000-hectare sea reclamation project is located in the eastern coastal area, which is identified as the economic development driving force of Ben Tre province. The sea reclamation area includes 14,000 hectares in Ba Tri district, 15,000 hectares in Thanh Phu district and 21,000 hectares in Binh Dai district.
In addition, to create leverage for the coastal economic zone, Ben Tre province is currently focusing on implementing a number of infrastructure projects including: 53 km long coastal road, total investment of more than 13,000 billion VND, expected to be completed by the end of 2025; Ba Lai 8 Bridge with total investment of more than 2,200 billion VND, expected to start construction in early October.
