Hanoi Zoo One Member Limited Liability Company (Ngoc Khanh Ward, Ba Dinh District) is caring for and raising nearly 700 individuals with more than 90 different animal species, including extremely rare species.
According to the Hanoi Zoo Management Board, the current entrance fee is 30,000 VND/ticket/person for adults and 20,000 VND/ticket/person for children. Opening hours are from 7am to 6pm every day of the week.
According to Mr. Dung, in winter, the diet of animals is increased, ensuring nutrition and health.
"All animals have skin and fur to protect them from the cold, but we still pay special attention to their diet to ensure their health and stable growth," said Mr. Dung.
Mr. Dung said that for the outdoor deer area, the company burns wood to keep it warm 24/7. For the hippo cage, there is a hot and cold system of less than 400-500 liters, ensuring the water is always above 20 degrees Celsius.
According to the reporter, although today is the weekend, the number of visitors to Hanoi Zoo is very low. Many visitors enjoy feeding deer, elk, horses grass, carrots...
The large pile of firewood ensures 24/7 heating so the animals can gather to keep warm.
Workers check fires in the deer area to make sure the animals are warm enough.
Horses, deer, and elk stand next to fires to warm themselves. A female worker at the Hanoi Zoo One Member Limited Liability Company confirmed that since the beginning of winter, the company has strictly implemented measures to keep animals warm.
"The animals are growing steadily. Every day, we regularly check and monitor the health of the animals. If any animal is weak and shows signs of illness, it will be taken care of separately. To prevent the animals from getting cold, in addition to lighting fires and heaters, we also install tempered glass in the cages to protect them from the wind," the female employee shared.
Mr. Dung said that the elephant cage area is covered with tarpaulin to avoid the wind, and there is a heater inside.
Most of the animal cages at Thu Le Zoo are installed with tempered glass to ensure safety and aesthetics for visitors and to keep the animals warm.
"For outdoor cages for small animals such as monkeys and langurs, we have shelters, covered with corrugated iron or palm leaves, and lined with straw for the animals to lie on," Mr. Dung informed.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on January 28, Hanoi will be extremely cold. The lowest temperature will be 9-11 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 12-14 degrees Celsius. Due to the extremely cold weather, many animals such as gibbons, sheep, goats... huddle together to avoid the cold.
After many years of conservation, breeding, and collection, the zoo at Thu Le Park has more than 40 rare endemic species listed in the Vietnam Red Book such as leopards, Indochinese tigers, leopards, clouded leopards, white-tailed pheasants, Tam Dao toadfish, pheasants, etc.
