(NLDO) - The international market is in the red, Vietnamese stocks cannot avoid falling, which can create opportunities for investors to hold potential stocks.
Session 19-12, red stocks dominate on HoSE floor
Global stock markets were shaken after the US Federal Reserve (FED) announced that it would cut interest rates twice in 2025, down from the previous four, leaving Vietnamese stocks in the lurch.
At the beginning of the session on December 19, the main indices all fell sharply as investors sold off stocks, benefiting from the psychology of the US stock market falling. However, the selling pressure slowed down shortly after. The market did not sink further during the remaining trading hours of the morning session.
Near the end of the afternoon session, selling pressure suddenly increased sharply. However, thanks to the demand for bottom-fishing stocks participating in the disbursement, the market narrowed its decline.
With the above developments, red dominates with many groups of stocks decreasing. On the contrary, green only exists in a few individual stocks. Groups of steel, banking, retail stocks… have a negative impact on the market trend.
At the end of the session, the VN-Index decreased by 11 points, closing at 1,254 points. Liquidity on the HoSE increased when 662.7 million shares were matched.
Dragon Capital Securities Company (VDSC) commented that liquidity on December 19 increased compared to the previous session, showing that the supply of stocks increased but cash flow has been absorbed at "soft" prices.
"The market will retest the 1,260 - 1,265 point zone. The supply and demand of stocks in this zone will impact the next move of the VN-Index" - VDSC forecasts.
Vietcombank Securities Company (VCBS) said the market fluctuated greatly as investor sentiment was affected by US stocks.
Therefore, VCBS recommends that stock "players" should not panic, need to observe market developments in the coming sessions, and consider increasing the proportion of stocks with good fundamentals for long-term investment.
